Everest Base Camp Trekking

Mt. Everest was named after Sir George Everest the British Surveyor General of India at the time when the mountain was first identified as "Point XV" on the border with Nepal and Tibet. To the Sherpa’s and Tibetans however she is "Chomolungma" - Mother Goddess of the Earth. And the Nepalese call her "Sagarmatha" literally meaning on “Top of the world”. Mount Everest is the pinnacle of an expedition for trekkers and this aspect brings along countless travelers to Nepal for only one purpose and that is to scale the Everest!

If you are an outdoor enthusiast then Everest Base Camp is a trek trail you have to witness.
The Khumbu "Sagarmatha" region boasts of some of the most amazing lofty mountain landscapes. A trek to Khumbu Valley and Mt.Everest Base Camp offers an unique walking, trekking or hiking retreat to the Himalayas. Listed in the UNESCO Natural world heritage site Mt.Everest is home to Sherpa’s, the inhabitants of the Himalayas. Orange monasteries are bestowed with colorful prayer flags, carved prayer stones outline the trails and an unbending faith in traditional values of the Sherpa’s seeks to be embraced and witnessed by our travelers from diverse nationals.

After flying in to Lukla our travelers settle down in the capital city of the Sherpa’s swell-known as
Namche Bazaar and in due course trek up to Everest Base Camp. In the following days the trekkers cross the Khumbu valley scaling the Cho La Pass which is 5420 meters / 1770 feet and climb up to the “trekkers summit” located in Kalapathar which is 5600 meters / 1830 feet. These places offer striking views and you can witness the astounding Khumbu Icefall.

Also, we will have time to walk down to Everest Base camp before trekking elsewhere and take the way out of the well-known and recently restored monastery at Thyangboche Monastery. We can also have the option to trek to Goyko valley. The Khumbu Everest trek can be a combination of Amphu lapcha pass, Cho La Pass and Mera Peak mountaineering.

It is possible to trek or hike in the Khumbu region the year round. There can be clouds and rain during summers but the weather is warmer and the days are longer. It can be bitterly cold during winters, as soon as the sun sets behind the mountains around 15.30 hrs but the daytimes are relaxed. Every now and then a snowstorm can blanket the countryside with heaps of snow.

Everest trek route from Kathmandu: drive to Jiri or fly to Lukla - Phakding - Namche Bazaar - Tengpoche - Pheriche - Lobuje - Mt. Everest Base Camp, Kalapathar - Lobuje - Dingboche – Cho La pass, Gokyo lakes or else Chukung valley.
