You may be interested to learn that we just finished building school (4 rooms) in the remote village of Darkha, Dhading north of Kathmandu for 82 poor students; it was great experience to be there with villagers. The organization that contributed the fund is called www.handsinnepal.org and Earthbound Expeditions (me) coordinate whole program and put some about USD 460 as donation, plus me and my staff volunteered in many ways.
The whole project cost was about USD 8,000. You can read the whole beautiful story at http://www.handsinnepal.blogspot.com/. If you or some of your friends want to help such kind of charity that will be always welcome, we have been approached by other villagers to build the school which we will start in Dec – Jan this year.
We have started to built another 3 room school and library in upper Darkha village with Help of Mr.Chris Gibbs from USA. He did 3 treks with us in Nepal and decided to help Nepali people and Children. Thanks to him and his friends, familied and supporter when he was doing the fund raising.
We have decided to give 3 % of our total profit to the social organizations. We trust giving to a worthy cause like this with good heart and pure motivation generates vast amounts of Positive potential and that makes the diffirence. We have been helping many volunteers for the placements in schools, care house, health project etc.

We are currently collecting shoes and boots, we have so far collected 800 pairs.
Anne and Larry distributed them in the Everest region in October 2012. Now Anne is back again to give over 562 pairs of shoe to Upper Darkha and Upper Gormu village of Dhanding Distric.
Please donate hiking boots, cross trainers, or running shoes that still have some life left in them. Don’t let a “good sole” go to waste! Give it to good Soul…
Thank you for Helping, to know more about this project please visit http://shoesforsherpas.org/ . Earthbound Expeditions is happy to be the local partner to send these shoes to the one who is in need of them and we have been helping last 2 years.
Bringing shoe through Nepal’s custom is getting hard, it will be great if you or your friends are going to Kathmandu, Nepal, you can drope your shoe in Our Earthbound Expeditions’ office and we can collect from there as well.
Or you can leave your used shoe after the trekking which you probably don’t want to bring back home. at Thamel Eco Resort or at Thamel Momo Hut or Pokhara Eco Resort and tell them that this shoe are for Shoe for Sherpas project. We will collect it from there.
This is what people wrote about us regaidng our work for the sustainable tourism and social change .
The Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal was an amazing and deeply moving experience. A few days earlier flying in to Kathmandu, my first glimpse of snow capped peaks, terraced hillsides, and wildly plunging valley walls, stirred some ancient memory of ‘home’. The astonishing landscapes, adventurous people I met on the way and the consistently gentle consideration of the trek team – Naryan, Hari, Guadji and guide Namaraj only confirmed this sense of a world without spiritual borders.
Always helpful, Rajan Simkhada – Earthbound president is based in Kathmandu, while international representative Tarek Lughold answered emails and provided requested information promptly. I can highly recommend Earthbound for their excellent service and long term industry expertise. Many of the staff including Rajan volunteer their time to social work. It is gratifying to know that Earthbound are an eco conscious, socially active company supporting remote area projects, such as the building of a small school recently at Darkha. At the end of my stay in Nepal I didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait to go back.
Rajan, it is important to me that the your organisation is involved in socially conscious projects…, KEEP IT UP.
