Darkha School Rebuilding Project - 14 Days

Help Rebuild a school in remote village of Darkha in the way you can. A volunteer trek in Nepal.

The Shree Chandra Devi Lower secondary School is located in Darkha village, in the Ganesh Himal region of Northern Nepal. This small subsistence farming village as well as the nearby villages of Majgaun,  Chapchet Danda and Birchet send their children to this school, from grades 1 to 5. A total of 65 students attend. Earthbound Expeditions guide, Gopal Tamang, visited the village late in May – early June and returned to report that the earthquakes damaged most of the school buildings and a full rebuild is required. The day following your arrival in Darkha, your group will set to work, and over the course of the following 8 days, under the instruction of the local project manager and your guide, you will help to build a considerable section of the school. Expect to work between 6-8 hours a day with lunch and snack breaks in between. Your group will work alongside members of the community and the vibe will be positive, productive and collaborative. Because of the scale of the project your group will start where the last group left off and it’s possible that you won’t be applying the finishing touches. But you can keep up to date with the progress via the Earthbound Expeditions website blog, Facebook  and twitter  posts. The next group will carry on the further work of the Project and complete. By end of 2016 we have to finish this project. Part of the trek money we charged will also be used to fund the  project.

You see great view of the Genesh Himal mountains on the way to Darkha and back, participate on hard work with community and then rest and see lakes and mountains in Pokhara and bathe with elephant in Chitwan National park before you go back home with great accomplishment of helping to rise Nepal and kids going back to the school and you enjoy your holiday here.
