The home of the Sherpa’s and inhabited by the Yaks, Everest Base Camp trek is our most popular trek and has been the safest route since forever!
The base camp is situated in the Himalayas at a height of 5600 meters / 18,370 feet. There are no rocky ridges to traverse, no scrambling or technical climbing but just a good well-graded path accessible to all keen hikers and trekkers which lead all the way to the base of Mt.Everest. Nevertheless, one aspect that should not be underestimated is that your efforts to experience the Mt.Everest trail and its remarkable culture, history and scenery will take place at an altitude. The key to trekking to Everest Base Camp is consequently being careful while pacing and taking plenty of time to accommodate.

With more than a decade of experience of organizing treks to the Himalayas you can be certain that trips offered by Earthbound Expeditions Nepal intended for Everest Base Camp allows you optimum adaptation time to the mountains because of the days you would have spent either by just walking for a couple of hours or even while resting.

  • If by any odds you are not able to make it to Mt.Everest, you can also opt to trek simply up to Kalapathar viewpoint which offers you with a close up sight of Mt.Everest.
  • Everest Base Camp trek can also be coupled with Island Peak Expedition which can be further combined with Gokyo Chola Pass.

we will munch our breakfast early in the morning and depart for the airport where we will take a flight to Lukla operated by Twin Otter aircraft which is the most renowned mountain flight corporation in the world.

On the flight we can gaze at the rugged foothills give way to the snowline of the Himalaya. A lot of the world's highest mountains including Kanchenjunga -3rd, Lhotse- 4th and Makalu-5th can be seen every now and then.

Once we are in Lukla, we pick up our porters weighed down by our bags and we ultimately start our journey on the trek trails of the Everest. Initially we begin by descending to Phakding River and we stay for the day at this juncture.

  • Day 03 : Phakding to Namche Bazaar -3445 meters

unpredictably for some travelers the trek to Phakding River proves to be stretched but the break allows them to rejuvenate for the trek to Namche Bazaar at sunrise.

At about half-way up the hill we get to witness the Everest for the first time! The cloud can often be seen stretching away from the incredible summit.

If the weather is clear at the top of the South-West the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge will also be visible.

Namche Bazaar is prosperous and the biggest town in the Khumbu region. A market (bazaar) is held here every Saturday. The products on exhibit comprises of meat, grains, vegetables, tennis shoes, trinkets, hand woven aprons and Tibetan boots.
Namche Bazaar is encircled by Thamserku - 6648meters, Kwangde Ri – 6187 meters and Khumbila - 5707meters.

  • Day 04 : Namche Bazaar- Thame - 3,800meters – Namche Bazaar

It is a day to accommodate. We will hike to Syangboche to witness the fabulous views of the snow peaks of Teng Kangpoche - 6,500meters and Kwangde - 6,187meters.

  • Day 05 : Thyangboche - 3,800meters

From Namche we trek to Khumjung at the foot of the sacred Khumbila Peak - 5,761meters. Khumjung Gompa possesses what is said to be the skull of a yeti and it would be a rare phenomenon to witness!

We eventually continue to pace to Phunki and Thyangboche monastery for one of the most magnificent views in the world; an awe inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants offered by Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kategna and Thamserku.

Tengboche has an active monastery where you can offer your prayers to the Gods and the nature.

  • Day 06 : DINGBOCHE - 4,300meters

We cross the Imja Khola and continue through the terraced fields and rolling pastures where yaks graze towards Pangboche -3,860meters. At this point, you could be a tad bit drained because we will be entering the thin air region.

  • Day 07 : DINGBOCHE - 4,300meters Rejuvenation Day

Rather than just sitting around in the tents or the tea houses we encourage you to attempt one of the two hikes we recommend.

The shorter option ascends the hill immediately behind Dingboche to descend steeply down to Periche. The Himalayan Rescue Association operates a medical post here and the western doctors conduct excellent seminars on Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) here on most afternoons.

The longer option is to trek up Imja Tse valley towards the Island Peak. The views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Cho Oyu from here are outstanding. After a few hours the trekker halts at Chhukung and after we rest for some time we start trekking downhill to the valley.

  • Day 08 : Lobuche - 4,900meters

The trail climbs through a grass carpeted valley to Khumbu Glacier and reaches Dughla - Lobuche.

  • Day 09 : Lobuje to Kala Pathar -5545meters and Gorak Shep

we have a long day ahead of us so we start early in the morning. We trek along the rough paths along the side of the Khumbu glacier to the tea shacks at Gorak Shep. Behind it elevates the attractive 7000meters peak of Pumori which dwarfs our trek's summit of Kala Pathar. The route upwards is straightforward and takes most trekkers between 90 minutes to 2 hours. Most of the peaks like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam and various other peaks can be seen from this point.

  • Day 10 : Everest Base Camp - Lobuje

We start early from the dry sandy area of Gorak Shep towards the Everest Base Camp. Later, that same day we return to Gorak Shep.

  • Day 11 : Thyangboche -3800meters

We walk back via Pheriche and Pangboche to Thyangboche

  • Day 12 : Monjo - 2500meters

We continue our descent via Namche Bazaar to Monjo

  • Day 13 : LUKLA - 2,800meters

Return to Lukla where we spend the night

  • Day 14 : Lukla - Kathmandu

please note that flights from Lukla are sometimes delayed due to bad weather conditions such as fog-bound Kathmandu or stormy winds in Lukla.
