A circular trek of the Mt. Manaslu going over the Larkya La (5135m) : This trek is newly developed as tea house trek, many people consider this as alternative trek of Annapurna circuit trek these days as the road has been built in Annapurna region now. Mt. Manaslu, at 8,156 meters is the fifth highest point on earth. Manaslu was attempted by Japanese expeditions every year from 1950 until 1956. The first ascent of Manaslu was scaled by Japanese expedition in 1956. However this area has been opened to trekkers only since 1991. It provides spectacular beauty along the border of Nepal and Tibet and is now a controlled trekking route, allowing organized trekking groups special permits to gain entry into this region to venture round its spectacular circuit.
As much of the information about this area is available only with Japanese, it is known as Japanese Mountain as well. This trek route is remote and rescue facilities are harder than in most of Nepal. In many places the wall of Bhudi Gandaki valley are steep, so we can walk along the bottom of the valley. There is a huge amount of wastage of climbing involved in the beginning of first 10 days as we climb up and down over the ridges and bypass the lofty cliff. The trail is rough and it often literally hangs on a bluff high above the river. The trek is geographically spectacular, culturally fascinating and traverse a strong living Tibetan cultural environment and spectacular wilderness. Moreover, Larke La ( 5100 m) is certainly an unforgettable pass crossing in Nepal Himalaya. This trek starts either from Trishuli, Arughat and Gorkha and ends at Besisahar.
Manaslu trek region has a unique environment, which is exceptionally rich in bio diversity that has made this region one of the finest tourist destinations of Nepal for many years. The majestic Himalayan ranges in this area consist of cultural diversities and natural scenery with high altitude romantic glacial lakes and fascinating flora and fauna, all features of this region, have made it one of the most well liked places of Nepal.
The Tibetans of the upper Budi Gandaki are direct descendants of Tibetan immigrants. Their dialect, costumes and customs are very similar to those of Tibetans. There is still a continuous trade between Nupri, the inhabitants living in the upper Bhudi Gandaki region, and Tibetans. In low region, there are many other castes of peoples like Brahmans, Chhetries, Newars, Ghales, Gurungs, and Tamangs. There are other so called untouchable groups in large number which called (Kami: – Blacksmiths, Sarki: – Cobblers and Damai: – tailors.)
Because much of Manasalu trek route is in a region of strong Tibetan influence, many places have Tibetan names. The Tibetan mountain ranges are even closer in the borderline ranges in this region.
