Earthbound Expedition's 16 days Everest base camp hiking - A Classic trek route to Mount Everest Base Camp

Wonder where is Everese Base camp? well at the base of Mount Everest – “Sagarmatha” on its southern side lies the Everest Base Camp, Mt. Everest was first scaled by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa in 1953!
The home of the smiling Sherpa, cute Yaks, and mysterious Yeti, Everest Base Camp trekking is our most popular hiking package. The trek trail to Everest base camp we follow is the safest trek route forever! with enough days of acclamatizing.

The Everest base camp is situated in the Himalayas of Nepal at a height of 5300 meters / 17,388 feet. Choosing the classic Everest route map, there are no rocky ridges to traverse, no scrambling, or technical climbing but just hike through a good well-maintained trail accessible to all keen hikers and trekkers, which leads to the Everest base camp. Although the Everest base camp trek package is 16 days we only walk for 10 days on the trek, other days are for rest, to absorb the magnificent surroundings, acclimatize, enjoy, and internal flights. You will be walking for 5 to 6 hours each day. Nevertheless, one aspect that should not be underestimated is that your efforts to experience the Mt.Everest trail and its remarkable culture, history, and scenery will take place at an altitude. The key to Everest Base Camp trekking is consequently being careful while pacing and taking plenty of time to acclimatize.

With over 22 years of experience of organizing treks to the Himalayas, you can be certain that trips offered by Earthbound Expeditions intended for Everest Base Camp trek allow you optimum adaptation time to the mountains because of the days you would have spent either by just walking for a couple of hours or even while resting. Our Everest base camp trek itinerary is carefully designed and field-tested that has enough days to acclimatize, so you are on safe hands.

You can do both Mt.Everest base camp and trek up to Kalapathar viewpoint at the elevation of 5600 m / 18372 ft. which offers you a close-up view of Mt.Everest (the tallest region on the earth) and other magnificent Himalayan range.

In our regular 16 days Everest base camp trek package we use clean and comfortable hotels in Kathmandu and also on trek.
The hotels we use in Kathmandu is an eco-friendly green hotel Thamel Eco Resort or similar, while on the trek in the Everest area we use the following hotels like in Lukla – Everest Eco, Phakding: Sherpa guide, or Beer Garden or Tibet, in Namche either nest or Hotel Namche, Tengboche Himalaya or Rivendole, in Dingboche – Good luck, in Lobuche – Oxygen Lodge, in Gorakshep – Yeti resort.

If you have only 12 days and want to complete Everest base camp in Luxury way we can take you to base camp using Luxury chain hotels and fly out to Kathamndu from base camp in a Helicopter or if you want a little tougher way to get to Everest Base Camp, you may want to do our 19 Days Gokyo Lake trek and reach Everest Base Camp via Cho La pass or combine this with three high passes and Island Peak Climb. You can also reach to Kala Patthar and fly over Everest base camp by helicopter.

Kathmandu - fly to Lukla 2880 m - trek to Phakding 2740 m

We have our breakfast early in the morning and drive to the airport to take a flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest Region accompanied by your trekking guide. We fly by a Twin Otter aircraft which is the most renowned mountain flight corporation in the world. Once on the flight we can enjoy the stunning beauty of the rugged foothills that give way to the snowline of the majestic Himalaya. A lot of the world\'s highest mountains including Kanchenjunga III, Lhotse IV and Makalu V and many other snow capped mountains. After enjoying the adventurous flight for about 45 minutes, we land in Lukla, an exceptionally beautiful mountain town in the Everest Region where we meet our porters and prepare for the walk of the day to Phakding, another mountain town. The descending walk leads us along the Dudh Koshi River and to Phakding village for the overnight stay.

Phakding - Namche Bazaar 3445 meters

The early start of the trek of the day takes you on mostly flat and gradual uphill trail along the Dudh Koshi River up to Hilary suspension bridge. From this point your first steep uphill walk on the Everest trail starts which takes you to an extraordinarily beautiful town of Namche, famously known as Namche Bazaar. On the way to Namche you can enjoy the view of some the Himalayan peaks including Thamserku, Tabuche, Cholatsem, Khumbila – Sacred Mountain which protects the Khumbu region and many other mountains. Get yourself immersed in the beauty of local Sherpa and Buddhist culture, take pictures of yaks, take in the spirituality from the prayer flags along the trail and many more just reach the destination for today to enjoy the more majestic view of Kongde, Kusum Kangri and Thamserku.

Namche Bazaar: Acclimatization Day hikes

A stopover day in Namche for acclimatization. Hike to Everest view point for about two hours uphill and enjoy the view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Amadablam and many other Himalayan peaks. Hike down to Namche and spend rest of the day exploring Namche Bazaar enjoying the local atmosphere.

Namche Bazaar - Tyangboche

Munch the mountain breakfast early in the morning and start the trek of the day to Tyangboche. Initial part of the walk today is on a mountain flat and downhill trails to Phungi Thanga for about four hours. From there another steep walk for about another two and half hours to take you to the famous Tyangboche. Once you are in Tyangboche, never miss the opportunity to visit an ancient Tyangboche monastery where you can see the footprint of Milarepa, a famous ancient Tibetan yogi and poet from the Kagyupa sect.

Tyangboche - Dingboche

Pave your trail through Diboche, crossing Imja Khola to Pangboche and to Dingboche – today’s destination. As you walk on the Nepali flat – sometimes up and sometimes down, enjoy the enchanting view of the snow capped mountains which is luring you even closer to the Everest. The view and the fresh mountain air is enough to make you forget about your tiredness. Engage yourself in the observation of the incredible beauty of the Himalayan atmostphere.

DINGBOCHE - 4,400 m Acclimatization Day

At this altitude, the human body needs time to adjust to the environment so take your day to acclimatize to the high altitude climate. Rather than just sitting around, we encourage you to attempt one of the two hikes we recommend. The short and best option is to ascend the hill immediately behind Dingboche which takes about four hours to reach the top. The view from the top will just blow your mind. Your four hours effort to reach the top will be eventually rewarded.

Dingboche - Lobuche 4,900 m

Be thrilled with additional mountain views as you walk on your pace along the Himalayan trail. Enjoying and integrating the mountain atmosphere into your life, you are heading yet another count of miles towards the famous base camp of the world’s tallest peak. The view is just a catalyst to take you to the Base camp. Communicate and listen to your body and go slow. After observing the memorials for the mountaineers at Dughla pass finally you reach another beautiful mountain village of Lobuche for the overnight stay.

Lobuje – Gorak Shep 5160 m - Everest Base Camp 5365 m

Today is a long day as we walk to Gorakshep, check into lodge, have lunch and walk to the Base Camp and return back to Gorakshep for stay over. The most exciting thing about today is that you are going to be at the base camp. Walking along the Khumbu glacier – the highest situated glacier in the world, and crossing the Changri glacier, we walk ahead towards Gorakshep After the lunch at Gorakshep, we walk to the Everest Base Camp, enjoy the view, take lots of pictures, selfies. Return back to Gorakshep for the overnight stay.

Gorakshep - Kala Pathar 5555 meters – Pheriche 4200 m

Early morning wake up to go to the highest point of the trek, Kalapatthar – a magnificent view point to the world’s tallest Everest and several other mountains in the Himalayan range. It takes about Three hours to reach the top. After the sunrise, hike down to Gorakshep; have your breakfast and then start trekking downhill to Pheriche – today’s destination.

Pheriche - Tyangboche

The descend takes us to Tyangboche today.

Tyangboche - Phakding– 2740m

We continue our descend via Namche Bazaar to Phakding.

Phakding - Lukla - 2,800 m

We trek back to Lukla and rest well. Dance and farewell with our team!

Lukla – Kathmandu

Please note that flights from Lukla are sometimes delayed or cancelled due to bad weather conditions such as fog-bound Kathmandu or stormy winds in Lukla. Be reassured that our staffs in Lukla and Kathmandu will be doing everything possible to minimize the inconvenience caused and your patience is anticipated. Upon arrival in Kathmandu you will be transferred to your hotel. We take you for a cultural dinner in the evening.

Departure Day

You will be transferred to airport at your schedule for the final departure as today is the last day of our 16 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking. Thank you for choosing Earthbound Expeditions Nepal as your travel organizer. Have a safe flight. To avoid risk of missing your flight back home we always recommend that you have 2 to 3 days extra at the end of the trip because flight from Lukla airport is sometimes delayed or cancelled due to bad weather conditions. Nevertheless if you are on time and you have these additional days to travel around then you can visit the Chitwan National park, White water rafting in Trishuli River or else to go Pokhara for a tour or simply join Yoga classes. You can also opt to get a massage. P.S: If the flight to Lukla is cancelled for more than 3 days, then in that case we will possibly change the itinerary for something equally better alternative trek. We also recommend you to do travel Insurance that all cover Helicopter ride / recuse or flight delay / cancellation issue.

This company is amazing, we arranged to go to Everest base camp through them. They were so professional and organised the whole trip, they looked after us at each stage even after when we planned to go to Pokhara for a sort break. They arranged flights to hotel accomodation so we didn't have to worry about it. Nothing was a big thing for them. Thank you to Rajan, Badri and all the team for making our dream come true. I would definitely be going back to Annpurna and would go through them to arrange everything for me. Giving you 5*s.. All the best..

Unforgettable EBC trek My fiancé and I completed the EBC trek with Earthbound Expeditions and have nothing but extraordinary things to say about the whole experience! For months leading up to our departure, Rajan answered all of our many inquiries and made sure we were all set for a life changing journey. Once in Kathmandu, we met our wonderful guide Gopal! We truly felt in the best of hands with Gopal who so generously shared the amazing Nepali culture with us throughout our trek. He ensured we were always comfortable, ate enough, rested enough and walked slowly to ensure we make it all the way to EBC. We cannot thank him enough for helping us achieve one of our dreams. And a big thank you to our porter Kancha! We truly had a dream team!! Looking forward to returning to this incredible country for another trek with Earthbound!!

Amazing local company very trustworthy and really care about their customers Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking I have used Earthbound Expeditions three times while visiting Nepal, including treks to Everest Basecamp and the Annapurna Circuit. You will be in good hands with them from the moment you plan your trip until they see you off to return home. Their guides are great, especially Chetan, he made both of my long treks even more enjoyable. When you arrive at the airport you will know you are working with a service that wants your entire visit to Nepal to be perfect...their driver is the best, he's picked me up several times and is always right there when you walk out of the airport. Experience of a lifetime!!
Until I set out on this trek, I had absolutely no clue how much planning and organization would go in to successfully taking 7 women of all ages to Everest Base Camp and back. I don't think I can ever thank this company and specifically Hari, our guide enough for this amazing experience. Even before the included days of the trek began, I was 100% taken care of by Mr. Rajan and the company. From the accommodations in Kathmandu, through every tea house we stayed at along the way, I never once doubted we're being cared for to the fullest. Not only did they care for our health and safety while completing a 12 day high altitude hike, but ensured we also learned about the Nepalese and Sherpa culture. Throughout the trek, I gained more and more love and respect for this company and our guide from witnessing and talking to other trekkers in other guide companies. Our guide Hari was able to manage 7 women of different paces, 3 (amazing) porters, and 12 days of accommodations/meals/ altitude complications, with grace and humor and brought us all together as a family. The only doubt you will have about this trek is not snatching it up when you get the chance! Dhanyabaad Hari!!

The most amazing 10 days of my life!
The hike from Lukla to Everest Base Camp was about pushing our selves to our limits on most days, and what helped a lot was Rajan and his team taking care of all the support we needed through it all. Rajan has set up a great team that is very courteous and always willing to help out whatever the situation we might be facing. The tea houses on the way were much beyond what we expected. We had attached toilets half the way and the initial ones even had heated blankets. The food was basic, healthy and nutritious. Overall a great experience thanks to the Earthbound expeditions Team!

One of my best treks todate
and my 14-year-old son was part of a large group that trekked to the Everest Base Camp. We also went on a mountaineering trip to Mt. Lobuche on the way. :) From the time we landed in Kathmandu to the time we left for home, Rajan and his crew left no stone unturned to make this trip as comfortable and memorable as possible. The food was great and the accommodations were comfortable. The guides and porters took extra care to ensure our safety and comfort during the treks and at the various lodges, we stayed at on the way. We were also well informed on what our day(s) would entail. Special shoutout to Gokul who carried a sick child on his back for miles, on the trek from Dingboche to Kala Patthar lodge on our way to Lobouche. Customer service is a commitment and not a mere slogan for these wonderful people. And they do it all with a genuine warm smile. I am already looking forward to my next Himalayan expedition!

EBC - Sept-Oct 2019
Group of 11 of us embarked on the journey to trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp. With Earthbound Expeditions experienced team the entire trip was made exceptionally pleasant and stress-free for us first-timers. Arjun and Ram who accompanied us on the trek as guides were exceptional. They went above and beyond their normal duties to make sure all of us were comfortable and successful in completing the EBC trek. They treated us like family and I have found life long friends in them. I highly recommend Earthbound for any of your future expedition needs.

Highly recommend the EBC Trekking with Earthbound Expeditions. Tough trek, but rewarded with stunning views! - Rajan was responsive and accommodating. By having the president of the company intimately involved with the details of my trek, it shows that he cares and sets a great example for his team. - Professional, knowledgeable and courteous guide, Bibek, and porter, Bibechan. Recommendations: - If you can go solo with a guide and a porter, it gives you more flexibility. - Take another day or two descending so you can go down on the other side of the mountain visiting the oldest monastery in the Everest region, experiencing less traffic, and enjoying the amazing view of the valley and wildlife. - Try to take a direct flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu. - If you have time, visit Pokhara - quaint and clean city - paragliding, white water rafting, etc. Overall, I had a wonderful time in Nepal with great experience from the planning to the end of the trip with Earthbound Expeditions.

EBC Trek: Amazing Nepal Adventure!
I have been planning this trip for 2yrs from the time I've done Kilimanjaro. This company has been referred by a friend and I didn't bother contacting other companies. Rajan, the President of the company based in Kathmandu has been very helpful in answering my questions in a timely manner. After 2yrs of waiting, flights have been booked and I am very excited about this new adventure! Rajan made sure my questions are all answered and emailed me all the info I need to know before arriving into Kathmandu. Arrived into KTM safe and sound but visa on arrival took at least 3hrs to obtain. I recommend applying for a visa before you depart in KTM. Was able to find the driver right away although it took me time since I dont see any of my name but just the company name, good thing I mentioned the name of Rajan so I knew Rajan sent him for me. I stayed for 2nyts at the hotel and I was sent off for my flight to Lukla and met my guide/porter. After 2days to the trek, I asked Rajan if he could replace my current guide since he doesn't speak English well and couldn't communicate properly although he is good at taking care of my needs. This is important to me since I'm Solo and I need someone to talk with during the trek, even if it's just about random stuff. I am VERY GRATEFUL for Rajan once again, on our 2nd day in Namche, he sent my new guide Chattan Rai and was with him until the end of my trek. CHATTEN RAI was very helpful and he was able to answer all my questions, although I asked a lot of questions every single day. Can't blame me since I'm curious.???? We talked. Laughed. And has was able to put up with me when I was cranky because of a headache. All the lodges we stayed at during the trek were all nice especially on Namche where they have hot showers and heated blanket! I requested a private room and they tried to provide it to me although they cannot make reservations way ahead of time so we're pretty lucky getting pretty decent rooms for the whole trek. I would definitely use Earthbound Expeditions again since I am planning another trip to Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet in a couple of years and would definitely request Chattan to be my guide. You guys should definitely give this company a try and ask for Chattan as your guide! All their guides and drivers are very kind and helpful and always on time. Thank you again Rajan and company! Until next time.

Nepal adventure – Earthbound Rocks!
Namaste! Nepal is a place that gets under your skin. It’s energy stays with you long after you’ve left. It makes you want to stay. Makes you smile when you recall the hospitality of the kind Nepali people. Makes your heart bleed to hear about the earthquakes. When you leave, already thinking about returning. I’m writing this review one year after returning from a truly amazing Everest Base Camp trek. Yes it’s taken me a while (!) but a few things recently have really impressed me about Earthbound and they deserve to be recognised. My EBC trek was a Groupon deal, as was that of the other 14 people in my group, from all over the world. I left England alone and nervous. I returned feeling amazing and with many new friends. Our tour guide Resham was brilliant. Bursting with energy and knowledge. He is a credit to Earthbound. So much so that I arranged for him to guide my friend, last month, on his solo Poon Hill/rafting tour. He has raved about his trip nonstop since! Another friend of mine has just returned from her EBC trek. She travelled with Earthbound, on my recommendation, and she absolutely loved it. EE’s president, Rajan, is a tremendous business man. He is highly respected in Nepal and I think his reputation gives EE customers an advantage when services are in demand (ie. fuel/transport difficulties, accommodation, tourist activities). Rajan fiercely strives for the utmost customer satisfaction yet is approachable and friendly. He is extremely busy (meeting the tourists personally, organising his staff, running his businesses, rebuilding damaged schools, etc) yet he responds to my emails the same day and always finds time to reply, when other presidents would’ve delegated it to a deputy. Yes… I’m currently customising my return trip with him : yey! This time some of the friends I met there are joining me, plus some Nepali newbies. The plan is to trek and then do some volunteering work. I can’t wait!
