Langtang valley trek in Nepal - north of Kathmandu :
A seven hours bus drive to Dhunche which is 105 Kilometers northeast of Kathmandu brings you to the starting point of this spectacular Langtang trek to the splendid Langtang valley region of central Nepal. Moving up a gentle gradient, you pass along the dramatic ridges through villages inhabited by Tibetans, Tamangs, and Sherpa people where you will come across the lush forest of Rhododendrons, conifers and oaks. You will also pass through mountain grazing cattle on the rich alpine pastures under the watchful eyes of their herders.

In our Langtang valley trek route breathtaking mountain views emerge on your ascent as the vegetation becomes sparser and the conditions more challenging. Once you enter the core Langtang valley from Ghora Tabala you will find fluttering prayer flags in the main trails, brightly painted shortens, Mani walls (carved Tibetan mantra Om Mani Padme Hum) and yak herders welcome you to the land of these high mountain people. Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri, Ganjala Peaks proudly shows above as you head for the main Langtang and Kanjing trail. The Langtang valley trek adventure takes you off the bitten track into the valley of a hardy untouched people, that has long historical ties with Tibet.

You will have ample time to explore and relax in Kathmandu after Langtang valley trek.

You can also join Goaisankunda lake trek :

There are a Shamanism and a Full moon Festival at 4312 meters in this region, every August - We called Janai Purnima festival

Shamans (“Dhami”) come from all over Nepal and arrive at the lake on full moon night which involves dancing and singing. This day is considered holy by the shamans whereby apprentices or “Jhankris” graduate into full shamans.
The full moon month of Shrawan (July –August), the day when this festival is observed is considered sacred all over Nepal and is celebrated in different manners by various groups of people. Throughout the Kingdom, the “Dagadhari” (or those who wear the “Janai” or sacred thread on their bodies) change the “Janai” after having a haircut and a ritual bath on the occasion of Janai Purnima, also known as “Rishi Trapani”. This festival is observed by the Hindus, especially of the Shaiva sect.

Full moon night in the month of August is also popularly known as “Gunhu Punhi” in the Newar community.
According to time-honored tradition, people receive the “Rakshya Bandhan” thread tied around the wrist. The yellow thread is purified by the chanting of Mantras by Brahmins as a symbol of protection from fear and disease. They also observe the occasion as “Kwati Purnima”.
On this day, thousands of devotees worship Lord Shiva at Pashupatinath in Kathmandu and at Kumbheswor in Lalitpur and take holy bath dips in the ponds and lakes.

Solo Langtang trek with wonderful guide/porter
There are so many trekking companies in Thamel, but I recommend you go straight to Earthbound Expeditions! I did my research from home first, then visited a few agencies in Thamel before I walked past Earthbound (who were on my list from internet research), walked in and chose them straight away. Rajan was very friendly and helpful. I only booked the day before I left and this was no problem. I also value the fact that they are an environmentally and socially conscious company. I did the 8 day Langtang Valley trek and absolutely loved it! It was important to me to feel comfortable with my guide as I was a solo female traveler. Rajan paired me up with Mitra as my guide/porter for this trip and it was no problem when I requested I meet him first, which I did the day before we left. Mitra means 'friend' and that he was. He was so professional for such a young age. Mitra took such good care of me, always making sure I was comfortable and ok. He stuck with me at my pace, made sure I was well catered for at every meal and always had a big friendly smile on his face. I was so very lucky to have Mitra as my guide. Langtang was amazing and Mitra made it even better for me. I hope to go back to Nepal one day and do some more trekking. I will go straight back to Earthbound Expeditions. No need to look elsewhere. Thanks Rajan and Mitra!! :)

The Langtang Valley Trek
In March 2014 we did The Langtang Valley Trek with Earthbound and it was everything Rajan said it would be. He was very honest as soon as we met him we all felt good vibes. Our guides Gopal was fantastic and so were the 2 porters’ also Gopal spoke good English which was very important. We did the 9 days trek starting at Dhunche and finishing at Syabru which was the best direction to do it is because the last day was all the way down otherwise you have a shocking climb up to Thulo Syabru village. We paid extra to do both ways by jeep no regrets the road was shocking. When we reached Kyanjin Gumba village we hiked the same day to Langtang Lining Glacier lookout which was ok but if you do Kyanjin Ri (a must) you get a better view of the Glacier anyway. I emailed over 20 tour companies before I left home and found that Earthbound offered more for less money and did not pressure us at all. Thank you Rajan and Gopal for a great trip.

Langtang Valley trek
In April this year, our party of four completed went on a nine-day trip to the Langtang Valley in Nepal. I had been trekking twice previously with two different trekking companies. Both had been excellent so I contacted both to make arrangements for the Langtang trek. I chose Earthbound Expeditions because of the prompt and efficient way all my queries were answered by Rajan. Three of our group had not been trekking before and we were very well looked after by our guide Ratna and wonderful porters Manu and Tibor. The only slightly negative comment I could make was that hotel accommodation for the last night in Dunche had not been booked. Usually, there is no problem getting accommodation but there was a volleyball tournament and environmental conference happening at that time. We did eventually get beds for the night in a guesthouse. I would definitely use Earthbound Expeditions for any future treks

We just finished our 11-day trekking through Langtang Valley through earthbound. We had the most amazing experience. Everything was taken care of for us . The porters went beyond their call of duty to help us. And Rajan was just wonderful. I definitely will use earthbound for my next adventure.

Amazing Company
I purchased the Langtang expedition through a Living Social deal. I can honestly say, for the tie I registered for the trip, the staff didn't disappoint. They were AMAZING! From the Nepal hotel to the bus rides, to the trekking experience itself. I was left amazed. In addition, they arranged for a Mt. Everest flight tour that got canceled. My fellow travelers and I went a second day, and that was canceled, too. Luckily the airport manager arranged for us to fly later in the day - but this meant we had to miss the day tour of the several temples, including the Monkey Temple. When we returned to the hotel, breakfast/lunch was paid for and our last day in Nepal, the company arranged for us to see the Monkey Temple before going to the airport. Amazing all the way around and well thought out and planned.

Langtang Valley Trekking
This was my first trip to Nepal and I highly recommended the Langtang Valley Trekking 12 Days with Earthbound expeditions. The tour covers a lot of ground. I had a wonderful and helpful trek guide named Ramjee bhatta. Ramjee and his team were great we had a lot of memorable time. He made us feel like home and never fails to cheer up on us throughout the whole trip. Looking forward to another trip with Earthbound Expeditions!

Langtang National Park 6-day Trek - Dec ‘19 / Jan ‘20
We made our second trip to Nepal with Earthbound Expeditions. Our first was 10 years ago and was great. Our most recent trip was just as memorable and equally as well-organized. We were a group of 10 and did a 6-day trek to the Langtang Area (up to Gosaikunda and over the pass) over New Year’s followed by a couple of days in Kathmandu. Pre-trip, Raj is great. He answered every email with our questions almost instantly no matter how detailed. On arrival late at night, we were met at the airport, taken to our hotel. At the hotel when we arrived, were extra duffel bags, sleeping bags, snow caps, and one down jacket that we asked for at the last minute. Having this there allowed us to complete our packing for the trek which would start the next day. Raj met us early the next morning to introduce us to our tour guide, Gokal, and head porter, Cerkey Sherpa, brief us on the trek and then see us off. Gokal, our guide, was excellent as were the porters - always with a smile on their face as they lugged our bags up and down the mountains. During the trek, most of us experienced some minor altitude sickness combined with cold temperatures (-15C) and Gokal took good care of us. He even had an oxygen monitor that went on your finger that he used on us. We all fought through it (encouraged by Gokal and Cerkey) and made it over the pass and immediately felt better as we descended. The trek itself was great with amazing views, diverse landscapes, and lots of snow. We hardly saw anyone else on the trails given it was offseason. We had an excellent guide in Kathmandu who showed us around for the day. He was knowledgeable and informative and fun. I would not hesitate to book with Earthbound Expeditions. It is an exceptional company that really does care about your experience. A lot of companies say that but they walk the walk with highly personalized service.
