The day hiking to Champadevi is a mere 1-hour drive from the capital city and offers a magnificent view of the colossal mountain ranges like Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gauri Shankar, and Jugal mountain Range. The hike takes you through lush forests of pine, and the route greets you with fluttering prayer flags. Ascend to the summit to visit the shrines and get a panoramic view of emerald hills accompanied by the sapphire sky and nearby settlements. The Champadevi Day Hike specially caters to the need of those who are bounded by time constraints.
Champadevi is situated at an altitude of 2278 meters south - west of Kathmandu and is a pilgrimage site having a Buddhist stupa and Hindu shrines. This factor brings in many pilgrims who visit this place on a full moon day. After breakfast at the hotel, we drive 16 kilometers for about an hour to a place called Pharping (on the way to Dakshinkali Temple) with packed lunch boxes.
From Pharping we start our hike, gradually going up for about half an hour along the trails toward the north ridge and through pine forested areas. From here, we continue hiking gradually up, following the trails for about another (3) three hours to Champadevi. It is also known as Vegetarian goddess.
The view of central and western Himalayan Ranges are magnificent from here and after lunch, we continue to hike down to Hattiban for about (2) two hours where we can see from a bird’s eye view - the Kathmandu valley, Langtang and Ganesh mountain range.
The day hike of Champadevi can be combined with monastery visit at Pharping or Bungamati and Khokana cultural trip at extra cost.
We will drive back to Kathmandu later in the evening. Total about 6 to 8 hours trip.
