Mount Dhaulagiri located in central Nepal is the (8) eighth highest peak in the world and it stands over the Kali Gandaki along with the Annapurna. The Kali Gandaki River flows between these two giant peaks to form the deepest river valley on earth.
Mt. Dhaulagiri with its vast massif screens the hidden lands of Dolpo to its north and to the west of it are Nepal’s far western hills. Only to the east along the Kali Gandaki Valley can we easily view the Dhaulagiri up close that is so massive with its symmetrical peak and four major outliners remains an enigma along much of its perimeter.
Like fabled but restricted Dolpo the complete one month-long trek around Dhaulagiri is only for a handful of hikers. This is because much of the route traverses the difficult and remote landscapes.
This superb but difficult Dhaulagiri round trek allows you to discover Dhaulagiri at 8167 meters and the White Mountains which is one of the most striking Himalayas in western Nepal.
This extensive and intricate trek around Dhaulagiri starts from the sub-tropical forests of Beni Myagdi valley. Hikers follow the Myagdi Khola west wards to Darbang and turn north on a tiny trail that leads through forests into the high remote passes and glaciers of Dhaulagiri before reaching the Kali Gandaki Valley.
Much of the route is on snow and glaciers as it crosses the French Pass at 5240 meters and traverses the head of the Hidden Valley and crosses 5155 meters at Dhampus Pass.
The trek ends with a steep descent to Marpha and we return to Pokhara either via the Kali Gandaki or over the Ghorepani ridge for a panoramic view of the entire Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif.
For the Dhaulagiri Trek there are two routes that are suggested –
• Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) • A staff member will receive you at the airport. • Check into a hotel.
Sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu.
• Drive to Beni which is reasonably a stretched drive. • Begin with our Dhaulagiri Trek.
