Itinerary

Expand All
DAY 1: Arrival

Arrival in Kathmandu Nepal, you will be met and assisted by Earthbound Expeditions representative and transferred to 3 star hotel which is located close to the tourist district of Thamel and offers comfortable accommodation.

DAY 2: Kathmandu - sightseeing

A pre-trek briefing will be conducted today , also introduce with guide. This will also offer you the ideal opportunity to ask any last minute questions that you may have. A half day sightseeing tour of World Heritage sights will also be arranged. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 3: Kathmandu - Lukla (2880m) - Phakding (2740m).

Our early morning flight by Twin Otter aircraft rushes us to Lukla, the most renowned mountain airstrip in the world. On the flight we watch the rugged foothills give way to the snowline of the Himalaya; many of the world’s highest mountains, including Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu (the world’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th highest respectively) may sometimes be seen from the window of the plane. Once we are in Lukla Surprisingly, this high-altitude trek begins by descending to the river at Phakding. We stay there.

DAY 4: Phakding - Namche (3445m).

The first day may have been surprisingly long for some, but stay at Phakding allows us to begin the ascent to Namche Bazaar first thing in the morning. At about half-way up the hill, a gap in the trees allow us to spy Everest for the first time. If the weather is clear the top of the South-West Face will be just visible behind the long Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. A plume can often be seen stretching away from the very summit. Namche is the most prosperous and the largest town in the Khumbu. A bazaar is held here every Saturday. The wares on display include meat, grains and vegetables, tennis shoes and trinkets as well as hand woven aprons and Tibetan boots. The Sherpas play host to trader from the foothills, as well as Tibetans from over the border. Thamserku (6648m), Kwangde Ri (6187m) and Khumbila (5707m) surround the natural bowl that Namche sits in.

DAY 5: NAMCHE BAZZAR- THAME (3,800m) - NAMCHE BAZZAR:

A day to acclimatize. We hike to Sangbuche for superb views of the snow peaks of Teng Kangpoche (6,500m) and Kwangde (6,187m).

DAY 6: TYANGBOCHE (3,800m):

From Namche we trek to Khumjung at the foot of sacred Khumbila peak (5,761m). Khumjung Gompa possesses what is said to be the skull of a yeti! Continue to Phunki and Tyangboche monastery for one of the most magnificent views in the world; an awe inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants: Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kategna and Thamserku.

DAY 7: DINGBOCHE (4,300m):

Cross the Imja Khola and continue through terraced fields and rolling pastures where yaks graze to Pangboche (3,860m).B, L, D

DAY 8: DINGBOCHE (4,300m): Rest day

Rather than just sitting around in the tents or tea house, we encourage you to attempt one of two hikes. The shorter option ascends the hill immediately behind Dingboche, to drop steeply down to Periche. The Himalayan Rescue Association operates a medical post here and the western doctors conduct excellent seminars on Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) here on most afternoons or longer option is to trek up the Imja Tse valley towards Island Peak. The views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam / Cho oyu from here are outstanding. After a few hours Chukung is reached, and after a rest return down the valley.

DAY 9: LOBUCHE (4,900m):

The trail climbs through a grass carpeted valley to Khumbu Glacier and reaches Dughla - Lobuche.

DAY 10: Lobuje - Kala Pattar (5545m) - Lobuje.

A long day and an early start. We trek along the rough path along the side of the Khumbu glacier to the tea shacks at Gorak Shep. Behind rises the attractive 7000m peak of Pumori which dwarfs our trek’s summit of Kala Pattar. The route up is straight forward and takes most people between 90 minutes and 2 hours. All the peaks - Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam and scores of other lesser peaks can be seen from this wonderful vantage point.

DAY 11: EVEREST BASE CAMP (5,300m)

From the dry sandy area of Gorakshep, it is a day trek to the Everest Base Camp. Later return to Lobuche via Gorakshep.

DAY 12: Lobuche to Chhukung (4730m )

The Chhukhung Valley, which lies directly under an incredible rock wall that links Nuptse with Lhotse. From here you will also have magnificent views of the incredible Amadablam (6856 m.), probably the most photographed mountain in Nepal.

DAY 13: Island Peak Base Camp (4 hrs)

Today, we trek along the Imja Khola to Pareshaya Gyab, a pleasant site by a small lake with fine views of the Lhotse Glacier and Nuptse-Lhotse wall. You will reach the Base Camp of Imja Tse today. Once camp has been set up you will be free to get your climbing gear in order and get organized for your ascent of the peak tomorrow.

DAY 14: Summit Island Peak (6160m). Return to Chhukung.

You will start early for the summit. The going gets difficult once you reach the bottom of the steep icefall below the summit. Great care and caution must be exercised while scaling the wall to emerge on the ridge leading to the summit. After the summit, you will descend back down to the Base Camp and Chhukhung.

DAY 15: Extra day

Extra day for incase we can\'t climb on particular day.

DAY 16: TYANGBOCHE (3800m) :

We walk back via Pheriche and Pangboche to Tyangboche.

DAY 17: MONJO (2500m)

We continue our descent via Namche Bazzar to Monjo.

DAY 18: LUKLA (2,800m)

Return to Lukla where we spend the night.

Rajan & Hary Nepal - You are the best! Thank you so much!

We went on the EBC trek this October with Earthbound Expeditions and it was Great!!! All written here on TA is absolutely correct! Rajan took care of us in every possible way. We sat with him and with our porter/guide (see below) a day before starting the trek and we got all the guidance, information and tips we needed. Rajan was very vey patient with us, even that I sent him about 20 emails before arriving to Kathmandu. Rajan also reimburses us, immediately, no question asked, when we didn't use 2 flight tickets he already purchases for us. Rajan assign to us the greatest porter/guide we could ask, his name is *Hary Nepal* (who works at Rajan's Earthbound Expeditions) , remember that name because I would like also like to take this opportunity to highly recommend Mr Hary Nepal. Hary go on the EBC more than 20 times and the Annapurna circuit more than 40 times - he his a pro! very kind and the most modest person, you will not here a ward about money. Hary took care of us on the trek make sure that we will be happy he is an amazing guy, let me just say it like this: if you go to Nepal - go with Earthbound Expeditions, and do yourself a favor, ask rajan to assign you Hary nepal as porter/guide! It was Hary, just as the view and scenery, that made it a once in a lifetime journey for us.

Fantastic and Well Organized Trek -- Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar

I would like to thank Mr. Rajan of Earthbound Expeditions for arranging a very well organized trip for me and my friends to Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar in Nepal. It was a dream trip for me and Mr. Rajan's team made it memorable and comfortable for all of us. Our guide Mr. Sriram Adhikari was very nice and an experienced hiker who has climbed many peaks and been to EBC numerous times, he made our whole trek and journey comfortable and enjoyable. They took good care of us for arranging the best room in every lodge/tea house we stayed, took care of all of our daily needs concerning food, water etc. Never felt that we were left on our own to manage things. I would highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions for trekking in Nepal and looking forward to my next trip to Mansarovar with Earthbound Expeditions.

Amazing journey to Everest Base Camp because of Earthbound!

My trekking partner, Kathy Warren and myself planned our trip to EBC about a year ago to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We were recommended to Earthbound by a friend of Kathy's. From the moment we signed up for the trip until the minute we were droped at the airport for our return trip home, earthbound took great care of us. The cost was extremly reasonable especially given the service we recieved. It was a once in a lifetime trip and I believe alot has to do with how we were taken care of. From the pick-up at the airport, our tour of Katmandu, our guide, Bharat whom we made a life-long friend with, everyday on the trail was a special experience. The owner of the company, Rajan, was there to answer all our questions, he even skyped with us before the trip. He is a special individual who is giving back his country through funding of schools and employing many local, talented individuals in his company. I would pick earthbound for any of our trips to Nepal. If you have any questions , I would be happy to share more of my experience. Thank you again to Rajan and the earthbound team for an unforgetable experience. Ruth Ann Ahnen USA rahnen@wi.rr.com

Everest Base camp

We have just returned from a wonderful trekking vacation in the Himalayas booked through Earthbound Expeditions. We cannot say enough about how happy we have been with this company. The initial communication at booking with Tarek was excellent. All our emails were answered within 24 hours and we received regular updates prior to our trip. Rajan runs Earthbound very professionally with the top priority to make sure that everyone is well taken care of. During the trek our guide Apar did an awesome job, organizing meals and accommodations and watching out to make sure everyone was OK every day. His very positive attitude was great to have around. Our porters did a wonderful job, always helpful and happy to assist. This has been a very memorable trip and we hope to be able to return again in the future for another trek. We will definitely look to Earthbound Expeditions to make this happen and we highly recommend them to anyone considering a trip to Nepal.

rajan of earthbound expeditions is the best

If you are thinking of doing something out of the ordinary, THIS IS IT!!! Just like you, I found Earthbound Expeditions (EE) through the internet and chose them based on all the positive reviews. I haven't written any review in my whole life but I'm doing this because the world out there deserve the best of what Nepal has to offer through the warmth and expertise of the people from Earthbound Expeditions. Even if you are not sure of what you want or where exactly you want to go, the first thing you have to do is go to their website and get in touch (email is the fastest) with Mr. Rajan Simkhada right away. He is the president of Earthbound Expeditions and he will help by giving you an idea of what's best for you based on your time and budget. My friend, Jennifer, and I just finished trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC). Our guide, Resham, and our porter, Bal, were extraordinary. They provided us with the kind of service that's way beyond our expectation. (Check out Jennifer's review on April 24, 2014). For me, March is the perfect time to go because there were other trekkers but not enough to make it like a circus. I treasured the solemnity that the trails had to offer. Also, the weather was just right. Warm enough so as not to feel like we were freezing (down jacket is important + gloves and head cover will help) but cold enough so that the yak dung on the trail didn't stink. When you are ready to go, the most important thing you have to bring with you is your diamox (to prevent altitude sickness) and your used hiking boots. The rest (I mean, everything else that you will need for the trek, I'm serious!) you can buy at Thamel, good quality for an incredible price. Spending money in Nepal is also a good way to give back to the people who go out of their way to to make your stay a pleasant one. Pack lightly. When I was reading the reviews before my trip, I won't believe what they said about wearing the same clothes for days and not taking a shower. It's true. My socks smelled fresh like they were taken out of the dryer. It was crazy!!! I brought a lot of baby wipes and felt fresh everyday. Next is water. I got Steripen from Costco before my trip and it served us (including our guide and porter) well until the end of our trek. I gave my Steripen to my guide after the trek. (Actually, I left a lot of my stuff with our guide and porter, including water bottles, sleeping bag liner, trekking poles, shirts, a lot of food, etc.) There is bottled water available if budget is not an issue. But you have to remember that everything, yes, everything up there was carried on the backs of either the porters or the animals. Which reminds me to tell you not to bring too much food. We did, which just resulted in excess baggage. All you need to bring are snack items because breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided during the trek. I became a vegetarian during the trek to avoid digestive problems. (We didn't have any.) Bring your camera, it's a photographer's paradise. There is internet almost all the way to EBC. You can also charge your phone, camera, etc for a small price. Buying my power bank was useless. And last but the most important of all, get travel insurance. Despite all the preparations, I caught the flu 3 days before flying to Kathmandu. But still, I made it to Kala Patthar (KP) and the original EBC. I was coughing and my lungs were not strong enough and succumbed to High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) two days after submitting KP. When you are in a very bad situation, you want to have Rajan Simkhada in your corner. One text message to him and the helicopter was on its way to pick us up in Lobuche. Despite 2 days in the hospital in Kathmandu, I believe that this trip will remain on top of all trips. Anyway, for me, the best part of traveling are those that are not part of the itinerary. Six weeks after coming back from Nepal, every now and then, my mind still drifts back to those magical mountains in the Himalayas and the bustling streets of Kathmandu. May you have a safe and fun trip.😎😎😎

A wonderful trekking trip to Everest Base Camp

In the aftermath of the April 2015 earth quack, I deiced to visit Nepal. Then I thought I might try trekking to the Everest Base Camp. I wanted to use a local trekking company and after doing internet searches, found the Earthbound Expeditions. An exchange of e-mails started in September 2015 with Rajan. He provided detailed information, a list of items to take and also answered my questions promptly. On reaching Kathmandu on 16 November, I was met by a representative of the company, who took me to a hotel. After meeting Kedar on the following day, I was taken on a sightseeing tour of the city. This was very enjoyable. In the evening, I met my Shyam - my guide for the journey. The day after we flew to Lukla, met my ported Prem and stiff for trekking. It was sunshine with clear skies most of the days. We were surrounded by mountains and the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. Walking along the river, crossing suspension bridges to get to the guest houses perched on hills and meeting fellow travelers is an experience that will remain with me for a very long time. Accommodation used along the route was very good. The guide and the porter were very helpful. The service received from the company exceeded my expectations. I would certainly use them again. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Earthbound Expeditions.

EBC trek

We recently travelled with Earthbound Expeditions on an Everest Base Camp trek. The organisation of the trip was superb from the time we first made our enquiry until the moment we left Kathmandu to fly home. Rajan answered our emails quickly and his responses to our questions before our trip were great and put our minds to rest about problems we thought we might encounter. When we arrived in Kathmandu our driver was waiting with our name clearly shown which was a great relief as Kathmandu airport is a bit overwhelming after a long flight. We were quickly taken to our hotel (Thamel Eco resort) where we were given a warm welcome and quickly taken to our rooms. The flight from Katmandu to Lukla was delayed because of poor visability and eventually cancelled until the next day. Our guide Namar, arranged for our transport back to the hotel and we were given our original rooms back for the night. Next day the flight was again delayed but Namar managed to get some of us on a plane and the rest onto a helicopter to make sure we could start our trek without any further delay. He really deserved his tip just for these efforts alone as after we arrived in Lukla all flights were again cancelled. The rest of the EBC trek was superb as were the porters that we had waiting for our arrival in Lukla. Everyone was very friendly in the tea houses that we stayed in and the food was great considering where we were. Eventually, after 8 hard days, we made it to EBC, all made possible by the crew that looked after us day and night. Don’t underestimate the effects from the altitude and follow what the guide tells you to do, and drink lots of water. On arrival back in Katmandu we met Rajan again and were taken to a cultural evening. Our guide also joined us on a night which will be remembered for a long time, superb food, drink and entertainment. We were a group of 7 and everyone had the same opinion. If going to Nepal again we would not hesitate to book with Earthbound Expeditions. Contact Rajan for help advice and you will not be disappointed.

The most amazing trek to Everest Base Camp! Stunning!

I've just returned from and incredible trip to Kathmandu and trek to Everest Base Camp. It was simply stunning! I was a solo traveller who tagged onto a group of 11 other trekkers. The Thamel Eco Resort was fabulous. A cute little boutique hotel only a street back from the main road yet so peaceful and quiet. Very clean and well presented. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help with my stay. I used Earthbound Expeditions from a recommendation from a friend and I wasn't disappointed! Right from the get go everyone was so welcoming and I felt I was looked after really well. Especial being a single girl on my first visit to Nepal. Rajan, Arjun and Bibek (our tour leader and guides, respectively) were amazing! So patient with all of us, as at one point or another we all had aches, pains, sickness and suffered from the effects of the altitude, and not once did any of them make me feel like a was slowing the group down. They really looked after us all and cared about my well being, offering me certain foods to help with nausea and Diamox to help with the altitude, which they supplied. All done with a constant smile on their faces! Such a lovely team. As for the trek it's self.... Incredible! Beautiful scenery, stunning views and those peaks! Wow! 😍 I couldn't have asked for a more magical trip, caring staff and friendly group. Despite it being overcast and drizzly for most of the trip (just the time of year) we were treated to glimpses of Everest and were surrounded by towering peaks. The most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Accommodation is clean and dry, very warm in the main lounge and simple, 2 single bedrooms with shared washing facilities. The accommodation gets a little more basic the higher you climb but that's to be expected. Especially when you see that everything is walked up from Lukla! Toilet rolls and bottles of water included! Simply amazing, herculean effort by all the Sherpa people! A truly wonderful trek! Thank you Earthbound Expeditions for an amazing adventure, new friends and memories to last a lifetime! Jessica 😁

Everest Base Camp

This is my third trek with Earthbound Expeditions and each time we get to experience the amazing hospitality from Rajan and the team. Kudos to them for keeping the quality of service as excellent as always. Coming to the trek itself, it is breathtaking and once in a lifetime event. A must-do I would say. The trek is by no means easy, if one is expecting it to be so, we are mistaken. The terrain is tough, the conditions varied, but it was the group of 12 (Dipanjan, Bala, Aravind, Nitin, Malini, Dhanya, Shankar, Jessica, Kasper, Georg, Anik and myself) along with Rajan'ji (himself), Arjun (our crime in partner) and Vivek who had a whale of a time and have some unforgettable memories from the trip. The places of stay were excellent and the food was as good as what we get at home. Good groundwork in engaging the right service providers would be the best way to state it. It would be an injustice if I were to not mention the excellent support, care and guidance from fellow trekkers as well as the team of Rajan'ji, Arjun and Vivek which helped me to complete the trek as planned. Thanks to one and all in making it a memorable trip. Thanks to Malini for helping me fulfill one more from the bucket list....

Everest Base Camp with Earthbound Expeditions

I just came back from my trip to Nepal where I did Everest Base Camp trekking with Earthbound Expedition. I have contacted Mr. Rajan, the head of the company as my friend, also solo female traveler recommended me to do so. As a solo female traveler, I mostly concern about safety when I contact local guides/companies. My experience with Mr Rajan and Earthbound Expedition was more than great. I explained that I could not afford full package tour, so Mr Rajan provided me with a guide/porter and I was paying for my own food/accommodation during the trek. I had a wonderful guide, his name is Bishal, very nice young man. He was taking very good care of me during all 12 days. I would definitely recommend this company and guide to all travelers.

Amazing experience at everest base camp trek

First before planning the trek with earthbound expeditions, I went to Trip Advisor and I was stunned to see so much of nice things written about Earthbound. This made me feel skeptical if the reviews are manipulated? Let me tell you that my experience 100% matches with these excellent rated reviews. I and my friend Ganesh planned EBC through Earthbound in the last week of March 2017 and my experience has been rewarding since day 1 from the day we reached KTM airport. Kudos to Rajan and his specialized Sherpa team. I enjoyed each and every moment of hospitality which started with Nepali cultural dinner before the trek started. Mr. Gyaljin was the Sherpa assigned to us and Gyaljin made sure that he listens to each and every request from us. The quality of rooms, facilities, food offered during the trek was just perfect. We never could get any chance to complain. Overall I am more than happy with Rajan's service and planning for a similar adventure with family in the near future through Earthbound.

Awesome trek to Everest Base Camp!

Rajan, and the rest of the team at Earthbound was fantastic throughout the whole experience. I had a ton of questions and specific needs that they were very responsive with during the booking process and we ended up booking a private trek for 2 to Everest Base Camp. I searched all over the internet and reached out to about 5 companies before deciding that Earthbound was the best for us in terms of communication, flexibility, and price. When we arrived at the airport, they picked us up in a private car and brought fresh flowers despite it being almost midnight so I was impressed from the start. Driving through Kathmandu made us really understand how much of a developing country Nepal is and Earthbound made us feel safe and comfortable. We met Chandra and Ganu, our guide and porter for the trip, and it was really nice to get to know them throughout the trek. Originally I was considering trying to save money and just do the trip without a guide or porter but after the experience, I realize that they are vital if this is your first time in Nepal. Other trekkers (even some who had a lower quality guide) were stuck sleeping on the floor of community rooms because they didn’t have a guide who booked their room in advance. Chandra was great at suggesting foods to try but also helping us stay away from anything that might get us sick. Neither of us got sick at all from altitude or food, which was something we were worried about before coming on the trip. One of our requirements (due to limited time on the trip) was that we had a helicopter take us from the final village back to Kathmandu instead of hiking all the way back down. We were the envy of nearly everyone on the trail as it started to snow on the last day and everyone was very cold so the helicopter that Rajan arranged for us was priceless and also provided for amazing views on the way down. Final recommendations that we didn’t know in advance: - Bring lots of sunscreen - Take Diamox as a preventative medicine for altitude sickness after Namche - Bring extra cash (there is an ATM at the Lukla Airport and also at Namche). We spent $300usd not including tips on extra food, warm water bottles to sleep with, gifts, wifi, and electricity. We were recommended to tip $120-150 each for the guide and porter - Bring a good sleeping bag - Bring toilet paper

Gopal Neupune........A Terrific guide

Four friends and I visited Nepal last month to trek to Everest base camp. Our guide Gopal Neupune was excellent and made our journey a safe, memorable and exciting trip which we will never forget. His knowledge of the area was so impressive and we firmly believe that the trip wouldn't have been the same without him! We hope to be back soon to carry out another trek with him. Thank you so much, Gopal! And thank you earthbound for the easy booking, good communication, and organizing of the trip which put us at ease from the moment of booking to the moment we arrived home!! Great company, and great EBC guide, thanks Bishal & Rajan!

We booked a 14 day Base Camp-Chola Pass-Gokyo trek with Earthbound through Rajan, who was super friendly and answered all the questions we had regarding the trek and everything we would need. Our guide was Bishal Rai who ensured our trek was both enjoyable and safe. He led the way and helped carry some of our belongings. Earthbound and Bishal set up all our meals and lodging so that at the end of a long day of trekking we always knew we had a place to relax, recover, and not worry about where we might sleep. While keeping us on schedule we never felt rushed and were always able to take lots of great photos. Bishal's guidance was especially helpful when we crossed the Chola Pass. He made sure we made it across safely. At the end of the trek Bishal wasn't just our guide, but also our friend, who helped us learn more about the mountains and Nepali culture. We would definitely recommend Earthbound as well as Bishal as a guide.

Wonderful EVerest Base Camp Trek - Nepal

We visited Nepal again in October 2017 for a second time for the Everest Base Camp trek. Our first visit was in Octber 2016 for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Both the treks were managed and planned by Rajan at Earthbound Expeditions. The Everest Base Camp trek was incredible with beautiful landscape and stunning views of snow capped mountains. An amazing and memorable experience of a life time, especially views from Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp. Many Many thanks to Rajan for all the assistance and personal involvement right from planning till the end of the trek. Really appreciate the promptness, patience together with excellent level of service and personal care. It was a pleasure interacting with Rajan throughout. We also had excellent support from our guide Narayan and our ever smiling porter Sherpa. Their tremendous patience, support and caring attitude was of great help to us throughout the trek. Hats off to Rajan and team once again for a wonderful job. We definitely look forward to our next visit to Nepal and our obvious choice will be Rajan at Earthbound Expeditions. Nepal is a must-visit destination for anyone looking at a vacation or trek. Beautiful landscapes, lovely peaceful villages and nature at its best. Very warm and friendly people with amazing hospitality. We strongly recommend Rajan and Earthbound Expeditions for anyone planning a vacation / trek in Nepal. Look no further, go with Earthbound. Highly Recommended

I have had the opportunity to trek two times with Earthbound Expeditions - both times using Hari as our guide. The trek to EBC is challenging but well worth it. I cannot say enough good things about our guide Hari. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. This shows through in the way our group was treated at tea houses throughout the area. Hari goes above and beyond to make sure your trip is successful and to support you in your trek. We were well taken care of in all circumstances. The trek itself is beautiful and once again well worth doing. As a company, Earthbound works hard to make sure you are comfortable and successful.

Trip of a lifetime!

My boyfriend, his teenage daughter and I did the Everest Base Camp trek thru Earthbound Expeditions with the amazing help and guidance from the best porter I could have asked for. Earthbound Expedtions answered all of our questions and helped us put together an amazing trip that worked perfectly in the amount of time we had. Without their expertise we wouldn't have seen nearly as many amazing sights and met as many wonderful people. They thought of all the details to help our trip run so smoothly. I always felt like we were in great hands. Rajan at Earthbound Expeditions put together and explained our itinerary so that it worked perfectly for our skill and interest level. We had plenty of time and could relax and see the sights when and where we wanted to. Our porter looked out for us the entire time. He could have easily carried my backpack and gone off to the destination for the night and dropped the bag off but instead he stayed with us and looked out for us. He never rushed us, he was just near enough that if I started to struggle he was there to lend a helping hand, which I needed from time to time - especially towards the end. He knew the trek so well, he knew where I might need more assistance or not. I can't speak highly enough of him. He truly was a great help and became our friend. It was a wonderful experience and working with Earthbound Expeditions was truly great. We couldn't have asked for anything more or a better experience. I will be always grateful. Thank you Earthbound Expeditions; a huge thank you to Rajan and to Suman. You guys are true professionals and wonderful people. Thank you for sharing with us why you love Nepal so much! Your pride in your country shows and it made our trip that much more special. Thank you.

Perfect Everest Base Camp Trek

An absolutely fantastic adventure, our trek guide Bishal was first class and Rajan put together a customized package for us which was exactly what we wanted including a tour of Delhi & Agra on the end of it which was also perfect. Earthbound Expeditions delivered everything we had hoped for and produced a great experience for us.

EBC

Arjun was our lead guide and did an excellent job in helping us. I had a great time and highly recommend for your EBC adventure. Do plan to take helicopter rides to Lukla. Sept/Oct is the perfect time for this trip. All our accommodations were about par and the food was good.

Trip of a Lifetime to EBC

This was a wonderful adventure going to Everest Base Camp with Earthbound Expeditions. The President, Rajan Simkhada made me feel like I was his only customer. There was a very high degree of detail associated with coordinating this trek and everything went smoothly. I had a lot of flexibility because it was only me, my guide, and a porter. My guide Gokul expertly guided me on the way through the steep passes and rocky hillsides; gave me tips on what best things to eat to boost my immune system, and he knew exactly when we would be approaching chilling windy afternoons. He and Lal made me feel very comfortable in every Tea House and restaurant that visited. Lal, my Porter, was a wonderful addition and coordinated seamlessly with my guide. He even descended to meet me and carry my backpack on those tough ascents. This was a great trip and I can’t thank Earthbound, Gokul, and Lal enough for making it such a memorable accomplishment in my life. I will miss all the people I met and Nepal. I hope to return again in the future!

Five stars all the way!

Let’s be honest, for the most part trekking companies are trekking companies. You’re going to take the same routes, see the same sights, eat the same dhal bat, and drink the same tea. But what sets Earthbound part from all the others is their intimate knowledge of the region, their incredible attention to detail, and their genuine heartfelt desire to provide you with the best possible care you could ask for. When I became sick on my way to EBC Rajan, with one simple email, arranged a helicopter, a porter to meet me in Lukla, a tea house in Lukla, and a flight back to KTM the very next morning. About that flight to KTM. Due to maintenance and cancellations due to weather in the previous days there was one flight that day to KTM. All the other flights were being diverted to another airport five hours away by bus. Somehow Rajan managed to get me on that one flight so I didn’t have to endure that bus ride. That alone would garner five stars from me considering how sick I was. Once back in KTM Rajan and his staff at Thamel Eco Resort, Bikash the manager in particular, looked after me like a member of their own family. They made sure I had medicine, food, water, hot water for tea, and kept a regular check on me until I felt 100%. Anything I even thought about Rajan took care making several changes on the fly with no problems at all. Being in constant contact with the owner of the company is next level service. Rajan was gracious enough to invite me to his home to celebrate a religious festival with him and his family. Even after my trip was over and my bill paid Rajan personally followed up with me to make sure I made the trip home safely with no incidents. That is true service. Rajan believes that guest should be treated like family and he shows this in everything he does. From my initial contact with Rajan I could feel this was the company for me. I look forward to trekking with them again.

Everest base camp with a 12 year old

My 12 year old son and I did the Everest base camp trek and chitwan safari October 2019. To make things even more difficult, my son had snapped both bones in his arm in half just below the wrist 3 weeks before we started trekking. Rajan was absolutely amazing from planning the trek to making accommodations for us while we were in Nepal. He always responded in a timely fashion. We went for a month, and told Rajan everything we wanted to do and the next day I had a full month itinerary planned out. When I suggested a few changes, Rajan made them without hesitation. Our guide Bharat was very knowledgeable about everything in the Everest region and took great care of us and our needs. He kept a watchful eye on us and adjusted our schedule everyday based on our performance/health. We went by ourselves instead of a large group which was the best choice for us. There were many things we wanted to stop and do/see along the way and Bharat helped facilitate all of it, something we couldn't do in a group. After comparing prices, going solo with earthbound was MUCH cheaper than most other companies where you have to go in large groups. And after seeing and talking to many of these groups, we also realized we had FAR superior service than any of the other groups. If you're planning on doing any activities of any kind in Nepal and want some direction, you HAVE to go with earthbound. You won't regret it.

Amazing local company very trustworthy and really care about their customers

I have used Earthbound Expeditions three times while visiting Nepal, including treks to Everest Basecamp and the Annapurna Circuit. You will be in good hands with them from the moment you plan your trip until they see you off to return home. Their guides are great, especially Chetan, he made both of my long treks even more enjoyable. When you arrive at the airport you will know you are working with a service that wants your entire visit to Nepal to be perfect...their driver is the best, he's picked me up several times and is always right there when you walk out of the airport. It really was a trip of a lifetime for me

Hello Rajan! Thank-you for your e-mail. I got back to London safely and looking for work at the moment. Thanks again for organizing our trip in Nepal – it really was a trip of a lifetime for me… memories that I’ll never forget. I would love to write something for your web site… please refer to below…. Hello Every one! In April 2005, a couple of friends and I did the Mt.Everest package deal through Earthbound Expeditions. This experience was one I’ll never forget. First and foremost, I got to achieve my dream of reaching Base Camp – thanks to our fantastic guide and porter, Ram. The trek was very well organised and the friendly staff really helped me out. They went out of their way to find me a pair of trekking boats (as mine had been stollen in India) and they leant me a sleeping bag and down-jacket free of charge. During the trek I felt that I was in very safe hands and was treated like a queen! The rafting and Jungle Safari was equally amazing. I would definately recommend Earthbound Expeditions to anyone wanting to trek in Nepal – their prices are very competitive and they provide the value-added benefits that other companies don’t. Enjoy your travels.
