Our representative of Earthbound Expeditions will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and he will be displaying an Earthbound Expeditions signboard. You will then be transferred to your hotel and the remaining day shall be a rest day.
After a delicious breakfast, we head for sightseeing in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley. They are: • Swayambhunath Stupa : A journey up to this monumental stupa with glittering golden spires provides the travelers with a picturesque view of the Kathmandu Valley and it is a must visit for those who wish to dive in the knowledge of Buddhism. The word Swoyambhunath means self-existent one and history dictates that it was made in the 13th century. At Swoyambhu, immerse yourself in the devotion of God by spinning the prayer wheels, with a backdrop of religious prayer ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ and the beautiful fragrance of incense. • Boudhanath: The Boudhanath Stupa takes its place among the largest stupas in South Asia. The gigantic white mound spreads 36 meters, and on top of it, there's a square tower consisting of the holy Buddha eyes facing all four directions. Prayer flags tied to the stupa flutter in the wind carrying the hopes of people to heaven. As Tibetans inhabited the area in the 1950s, you can see the remains of Tibetan culture to this day too and enquire with them to get in-depth knowledge about their culture. Turn the prayer wheels and circle the stupa as you say your prayers amidst the crowd and pleasant yet strong fragrance of incense. • Pashupatinath: One of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages in the world is ‘Pashupatinath.’ A small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was built here in 879 AD, but the temple stood in its current format 1697 AD when King BhupatindraMalla made it. This temple is an example of architectural magnificence as the gold-plated roof, silver roofs and woodcarvings of the highest caliber soothe and simultaneously amaze you. The temple comprises of Linga images of Lord Shiva along with numerous statues and shrines. A walk in this temple shows you the true meaning of life as in the yards you’ll see young boys doing ‘Bratabandha’ which starts their journey to adulthood and on the other hand you’ll witness the deceased being cremated in the banks of the holy river Bagmati, indicating that life is short. Talk with the sages residing there and expand your knowledge on Hinduism. A pre-trek briefing shall also be conducted in which you can ask any queries to the guide regarding the trek. Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazar and further to SotiKhola After a delicious breakfast, we drive towards the rural village of Arughat and then further to Maccha Khola. The journey takes about 8 hours, and the road is home to the wilderness of Nepal which takes place in the form of rugged terrain, clear rivers, and high suspension bridges. The route is rough but provides an exhilarating experience. Aarughat is a town located on the banks of the majestic Budi Gandaki River. From there, we head towards the trekking trail pass Solti Khola and Then to Maccha Khola, you can use a bus or jeep. The cost of a private vehicle is USD 67 extra for each person. The trail shows you its uniqueness as it heads up and down, testing your strength and determination. The trail descends on a hot spring in Tatopani, and from there it is another ridge climbing and bridge crossing. Traversing the gorge and lush greenery leads you to the stone stairs which head to TharoBharyang. By crossing the west bank of Budi Gandaki and trekking along the river, we reach the primitive village of Jagat which still upholds its traditional lifestyles and ways.Stay at picturesque village of Jagat. about 6 to 7 hours of hike. The village of Dyang is home to stunning views of the Himalayas and provides a serene atmosphere for anyone willing to get lost in nature. To reach Dyang, we initially climb to Salleri and then descend to Sirdibas. We follow the upstream trail, and en route we cross villages like Philim, Ekle Bhatti, and we traverse through millet fields as well. As you trek further, the landscape changes from rugged to grassy land slopes. After crossing the bamboo forests and DyangKhola, we reach Dyang. After walking beyond Deng, we need to cross the BudhiGandaki and climb Rana. From the bridge, we do a bit of climbing and join a trail from Bhi then head west. The manasalu trek trail passes through forests and from there we turn towards a corner that leads to Ghap. Ghap is famous for its Mani stones, and it provides a surreal view of the mountains that lie ahead. Ghap Village with stunning natural beauty providing views of the crystal-clear ascading waterfalls and snow-capped peaks in the backdrop. Lho comprises of a large Gompa which serves as a basis of education for many children there. It is a beautiful village with well-carved chorten.The trail crosses the side valley of SimnangHimal. In Lho village, we can enjoy amazing views of Mount Manaslu, so close. Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
From Lho village, we trek via Shala through the rugged trails while being surrounded by huge mountains like HimalChuli, Manaslu, and other large glaciers. The Ganesh Himal stands at the far end. Acquaint yourself with the unique traditions of the Sherpa culture and try to decipher the mani stones written in Buddhist texts. Visit the PungyenGompa which is famous for its religious as well a natural significance. Samagaun is an essential acclimatization stop before you conquer the towering peak of Manaslu, all climbers stay multiple nights here to acclimatise too. Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
We descend to the BudhiGandaki River and then follow it to a bridge over a side stream. It is a relatively easy trail on a shelf above the river and passes through the birch forests of KermoKharka. We cross the BudhiGandaki on a wooden bridge. Somdu is a small village inhabited by Tibetan origin populations. In Samdo people are friendly and known as Bhotia community who have close ties to Tibet. The Buddhist village is rich in cultural heritage so they have monasteries, the colorful prayer flags, and small chortens. . Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
To prepare for further trekking to Manaslu circuit Larke la pass , we take a day off to acclimatize at Samdo. Take advantage of your day off by hiking at the back of the Samdo village. The hike shows the ancient trade route to Tibet and provides excellent views of mountains like Manaslu, Simrang, and Ngadi. The hike provides ample time to witness settlements and flora and fauna.Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
Our day starts by walking on the edge, crossing a wooden bridge and descending upwards. On the trail we see the Larkya Glacier, cross two streams and go around the valley of SalkaKhola. From Samdo we trek to Dharmashala passing through suspension bridges and Larke Bazar a seasonal Tibetan market. The trek is about 4 hours and offers magnificent views of the untouched beauty of the Manaslu Circuit trek route. The views of glaciers, alpine meadows, prayer flags and mani walls will greet you. After an upward climb, there is a stone guesthouse which is not exactly a lodge but a shelter house called Dharmashala. Today is the longest day of the trip as you’ll wake early to conquer the challenges in front of you. A short climb above the lodge will lead you to the northern side of Larkya Glacier. We cross through frozen lakes and admire the beauty of Larkya Peak. Larkya La Pass in Manasalu region is a high mountain pass - 5,106 meters (16,752 feet). Larkya La Pass trek is popular trail these days while you doing Manaslu Circuit Trek. Crossing the larke pass is one of the hardest parts of the trek, it offers amazing views and a great sense of accomplishment for trekkers. By crossing boulder fields and ridgelines, we come across a spectacular panorama of the Himalayan peaks like HimlungHimal, CheoHimal, and Kang Guru. There is a steep descent to reach the trail leading to DangbocheKharka. It is a good place to stop and rest before continuing the descent to Bimthang. Total manaslu trek main day hiking distance is about 24 Km or 16 miles and may take up to 9 or 10 hours total. Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
We descend further and cross a high pasture (SangureKharka) and cross a bridge over DudhKhola. The trail crosses through rhododendron forests and a narrow valley. We reach the highest cultivated land at Karche. We pass across fields before doing a climb over a ridge. We reach Tilje village. Tilje is a picturesque village in Nepal's Manang district that is famous for Annapurna circuit trek. About 13 KM - 5 hours walk. Stay in a simple tea house. B, L, D
We cross the stream beyond Tilije and walk on a dirt road with Dharapani in the Marsyangdi valley. We cross the Marsyangdi River and then climb stone steps to reach the town of Dharapani. We head towards the north of Dharapani that join the Annapurna Circuit Trek trail if you wish we can continue the Annapurna circuit trek. But today we take a local Jeep/bus to Kathmandu. (Private Jeep can be hired at USD 117 per person extra). You can check into a hotel and at evening join Nepalese cultural show and dinner. B, D.

Excellent service with Earthbound
We trekked in Nepal in December 2014. We loved it so much we plan to go back. EE is a very professional company. Rajan, the owner, communicated with me numerous times before we even booked and again before we arrived, as we wanted to do something a bit customized. Our city tour guide, Kumar, was very knowledgeable and personable. Consider yourself lucky if you get him. We will ask for him by name next time we go. Our trek guide, Namaraj ("Nama") was excellent. Same with our porter, Chandra. During the trek, I asked Nama a lot questions about the Himalayas, trekking, Nepali culture, Hinduism and Buddhism, and whatever came to mind that interested me about this breathtaking country and it's lovely people. He never tired of my inquisitiveness and was extremely knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. During the trek we had to adjust our schedule, and Nama took care of it seamlessly. Chandra was tireless and always had a smile on his face. You will be in good hands with EE. I highly recommend this company.

Mighty mountains, big blue rivers, dense green jungles, wild wild animals, food for the soul, and above all, the wonderful people. My husband and I booked our first holiday and Trek in Nepal through Earthbound Expeditions. We were keen to do a trek in a remote area and thus picked the Manaslu Circuit, followed by 1 week to explore other parts of the country. During our E-Mail and WhatsApp contact prior to and during the trip, the responses of the Director were prompt and clear, and he planned a great itinerary for us. Our guide and porter were well experienced and familiar with the terrain. I enjoyed not needing to plan the route or worry about accommodation but just mindfully enjoy the nature and physical activity. The crew also ensured that we had sufficient breaks, stayed hydrated, ate and slept well as we moved higher from Teahouse to Teahouse. Unfortunately due to fresh snow at the pass and an increasing avalanche risk, the Larke Pass was closed. But the team promptly came up with a great alternative short hike to Poonhill and Ghorepaani with the remaining days at no extra cost. Here, we got to see more 8000m+ peaks, which was yet another highlight. Finally we had 3 nights in Pokhara, 1 night in Bandipur and 3 nights in Chitwan to enjoy a spa, eat more great food, different ethnic cultures, jungle safaris with lots of wild animals. They say, "You come as a tourist, and you leave as a friend" : we befriended the team, the locals, the mountains and the jungles. Truly, the experience of a Lifetime.

Most Amazing Time of Our Life Thanks to Earthbound!!... We cannot recommend Earthbound Expeditions enough!! We had the best, most fun and soul touching trip thanks to Rajan and Naresh! From our first communication w Rajan everything went so smooth, he is super accomodating! He does an amazing job organizing everything and checking in with us throughout our trek! Naresh, our guide, became like family to us! We felt so well taken care of and comfortable with him. He was 200% the most knowledgeable guide on the trek, and the most kind person we’ve ever met, always willing to help everyone. Other trekkers and guides were even asking him for advice!! We felt so safe with him and want to come back to do another trek with him! We will miss Naresh so much. We were so glad we were with Earthbound for our trek we felt so safe. This was a life changing trip thanks to Earthbound! Another perk is that this is a locally owned Nepali company! A fabulous experience! Earthbound Expeditions organised a 28-day trip for us that combined Manaslu trek and Upper Mustang treks, with a short rest in Pokhara. Everything was organised via email before our arrival in Kathmandu, and the few necessary changes during the trip were minor and seamless (28 days is a long time, some changes are bound to occur due to weather or other circumstances!). We had the absolute BEST time! Naresh (guide) and Som (porter) certainly contributed to make our trip one to remember for all the good reasons, and deserve two massive thumbs up for their professionalism and overall kindness. And Rajan was the perfect host, passionate about his country and a great story teller.

Earthbound expeditions are a fantastic company headed up by the charismatic Rajan. They looked after every guest and their tailored requirements from arrival to departure. The trekking was amazing and made all the better by the fantastic guides and porters. Rajan took us all out on the last night (included in the tour) to a great restaurant with a cultural show. I highly recommend the cooking class run by Rajan's wife if you have extra time (and do try and spend some extra time in Nepal). Would recommend earthbound expeditions every time.

Amazing Manaslu Circuit Trek with Earthbound
We visited Nepal in October 2018 for the Manaslu Circuit trek. This was our third visit to Nepal and our third trek with Earthbound Expeditions. The Manaslu Circuit trek was excellent with beautiful landscape and stunning mountain vistas dotted with beautiful villages along the trail. The lush green forests, beautiful valleys and simple village life along the trail make it an enjoyable trek. A wonderful and memorable experience overall, especially views from Samagaon and Larke pass. Hats off to Rajan at Earthbound Expeditions once again for a wonderful job and another great trek. As always, excellent support, personal care and involvement. Prompt, patient and great service right through. Thanks also to the excellent support from our two-time guide Narayan and porter Motiram. Loads of patience, support and caring attitude was of great help to us throughout the trek. Anytime we plan a trek/vacation in Nepal our obvious choice will be Rajan at Earthbound Expeditions. I started off doing the Manaslu trek but was unable to continue due to a medical reason. Rajan then went above and beyond and was able to match me up with another of his groups and we saw the most beautiful and amazing country. I felt safe and looked after. Nepal has so much to offer!

Enjoyed a great trek with Earthbound Expeditions in October 2019. I highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions. Rajan is very responsive and organized. As the trip approached, he diligently answered all of our questions. Thamel Eco Resort in Kathmandu is a perfect jumping-off point. Our guide, Hari, and our porter, Podum, were both fantastic. Hari paid attention to our hiking speed and style and accommodated our preference for hiking some long days. But when I caught a cold he also accommodated that and slowed down the trek for a few days as I recovered. Podum was fantastic and very attentive to us on the trail and at the teahouses. The trek itself is phenomenal. It has deep gorges, raging rivers, insane suspension bridges, lush forest, Gurung and Tibetan villages, high mountains, yaks, and monkeys. Pretty much everything I could have hoped for on my first trek in Nepal. I thought the hiking days were very reasonable and the accommodations, though rustic, met my expectations. The food was better than I expected. As the other reviewer stated, Manaslu and Tsum Valley are becoming popular, so now is the time to go before the roads push all the way in and the local charm disappears under an onslaught of tourists fleeing other already overcrowded routes. I highly recommend this trek and Earthbound Expeditions.

Fabulous Trekking Experience

Everything we expected and more
Everything we expected and more. All activities were organized by Rajan as described in the itinerary from A to Z, including ground transport to/from airport, trail head and trek itself. If we were to be met by a driver or guide at a particular time, then this really happened. The hotel in Kathmandu, while located in the chaos of the city, was tucked away in an oasis of quiet. The room for first night was near the noisy bar/eating area, but this was more than offset by the great suite we received on the last night after the trek. We were there for the Poon Hill trek and we were not disappointed. The company means it when it says that trail speed is not important – it’s about going slowly enough to absorb the experience (that’s why we saw the monkeys). Even so, we always reached the day’s goal insufficient time to unwind, shower and have dinner. If you can, ask for Maule to be your guide. He’s extremely knowledgeable and will talk to you about any topic from things you see on the trail to life in Nepal. You’ll make a friend by the end of the trip. He will set an appropriate pace and won’t whip you along the trail like some other guides we heard about. On the trail, he organized all meals and overnight stays. A couple of times at lower altitudes when one of us was struggling with the heat, he took our pack in addition to his own for the rest of the day.
