Overview

Discover and inspire the adventure in you by climbing the second-highest mountain in Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), Mount Meru (4,562 m) trailing through the famous Momella route.

Mt Meru, located in the heart of Arusha National Park and 43 miles west of Mount Kilimanjaro in the country of Tanzania, is considered as the best for acclimatization before Mount Kilimanjaro climbing. It’s an incredible vantage volcano point that offers the beautiful view of Kilimanjaro and wildlife unparalleled in Tanzania.

Unlike Kilimanjaro having seven official trekking routes, there is only one standard route to the peak of Meru, the Momella route. The climb to the summit doesn’t require a high level of mountaineering skills but don’t be mistaken; it is a challenging climb as it is indeed high enough to cause altitude sickness.

Throughout the journey from the beginning to the end, we are rewarded with the serene beauty of Arusha National Park. On the lower slopes of the climb, you can witness the wide range of wildlife. As you gradually ascent through the Momella route, you cross through the north rim of the volcano’s crater along a dramatic ridgeline.

As a saying ‘The best view comes after the hardest climb,’ once you reach the summit, you get the spectacular view of the sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro and the scenic beauty of the wildlife.
