Amazing Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour with EarthBound Expeditions
t was my very first 'real' vacation and interestingly I chose Nepal Bhutan and Tibet. I found Earthbound Expeditions through a recommendation in the Lonely Planet guide. Rajan is the most professional, friendly business owner I have ever met.He is a travel tailor can make everything possible. I fully recommend Earthbound Expeditions to anyone interested in a trip to Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. Rajan takes care of everything for you and leaves you to enjoy the experience. Adding, changing and tailoring the trip to your own needs is no problem at all for his company. Just wanted to say thanks to Rajan for organizing our recent trip to Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet

Earthbound Expeditions - Beyond Expectations
What a magical experience! This August my family and I enjoyed the trip of a lifetime in Nepal and Tibet. We are in our 40's and 50's and have two boys ages 5 and 12. Since we had just under two weeks for our trip we had a lot of things we wanted to do in a short time. We used Earthbound Expeditions of Katmandu for every detail of our trip. We flew into Katmandu, spent a night in Nagarkot and the Club Himalaya, drove to Pokara for a few days - stayed at the Fishtail Lodge, drove to Chitwan - stayed at the Rhino Residency, drove back to Katmandu - stayed at Darwicka's, flew to Lhasa - stayed at the Four Points Sheraton, worked our way overland back to Katmandu via Everest Base Camp, and then Darwicka's in Katmandu again before flying out. All along the way we had private guides, a Landcruiser, and driver. I really can't even begin to describe how utterly amazing this trip was. We were in the car for a very long time but I wouldn't have traded it for the world. The road trip let us see so much beauty and get such a feeling from being immersed in the both countries. Every corner we rounded brought another amazing sight into our view. Wow. It was simply breathtaking. Additionally having our own car allowed us to stop and check out whatever caught our interest. Like in Nepal the kids wanted to go out onto one of the wire suspension bridges that span the rushing rivers that crash through mountain canyons...so we did. HIghlights of Nepal include seeing all sorts of wildlife including several rhinos, up close and personal. Rhino Residency and in particular Mr. Chok our Chitwan naturalist were spectaular. If you go to Chitwan and you are interested in the people and wildlife of the area, you must go out into the jungle with Mr. Chok. He is like the "Steve Irwin of Chitwan". Highlights of Tibet were the breathtaking scenery and the off road trip from Everest Base Camp to Tingri and stopping to have tea with an ancient looking monk who invited us into his tent on a lonely mountain pass. The Tibetan driver and guide had friends all along the way. In regards to taking young children on this trip, I would say it is not for everyone but for our kids it was wonderful. They had so much fun and everywhere we went they found other kids to play with and got lots of attention for the local people who were not used to seeing young American kids. I believe that this trip and our other travels have made them very accepting to all of the diversity in our world and very comfortable with it. Whether they were receiving a blessing from a Hindu holy man, lighting a yak butter candle in a Buddist temple, or playing with the local Taru children in Chitwan .....they took it all in stride. I found myself yelling after the little one in Chitwan "Hey slow down and stay away from the water buffalo's". That is something I never would have said back in Ohio ;) The altitude in Tibet has to be respected especially with kids. The most important thing is to know the signs of altitude sickness and go lower if you have problems. Since we were traveling a little faster than I would have liked we took diamox which I think helped a great deal. My little one started to feel sick after a couple hours at Everest Base Camp so we headed back down instead of staying overnight in the tents like we had planned. As soon as we descended to a lower altitude he was fine. I made everyone drink only bottled water, no ice, or boiled drinks and nobody got sick even a little bit. The food was great in both countires. By the way, all of the reviews speak negatively about the tents at EBC but I found the one we were going to stay in to be very cozy and we had some yummy noodles and coffee there. I really can't say enough about Earthbound and the owner Rajan. I think we exchanged about 100 emails trying to sort out the details of our trip. He patiently worked with me and made change after change to our itinerary until we finally settled on the perfect package for our family. He was honest. Completely trustworthy. And best of all treated us like respected friends during the entire process. I have to admit that as a suburban American Mom I was a little cautious about heading out into exotic Nepal and Tibet with my kids. Working with Rajan was like having an old friend or a family member there for us. He met us at the airport, dropped us back off at the airport, was available via cell phone at all times during the trip. I am amazed at how he handled every detail. He took care of us at every step. For example, I was particularly concerned about the border crossing between Tibet and Katmandu because our guide from Tibet couldn't go with us across the border. However there were two guides waiting for us and introduced themselves as soon as we stepped out of our Landcruiser. They walked us through customs, over the border, through Nepal's immigration, and to our waiting Landcruiser on the Nepal side. It was seamless. Our guides and drivers were fabulous and wonderful company on our vacation. I can imagine that they are treated very well by Rajan and that promotes their great attitudes and service levels. So if you are thinking about visiting Nepal and Tibet I would say go and enjoy. It is a once in a lifetime magical experience.

Best Trip of Our Lifetime to Tibet-Bhutan-Nepal
you are in good hands if you go with Earthbound Expeditions - trustworthy, reliable, proactive, flexible, efficient and friendly. If there was anyone that we wanted to plan our return trip to Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal, it'll be Rajan and his capable team. From the get-go, emails are responded to very quickly - whether it was a query or advice we required. All trip itineraries, instructions, and costs are very clear and upfront - no hidden surprises. After we made our initial booking and deposit for our trip, unrest broke out in Tibet on the day we were scheduled to commence the trip. Rajan kept us updated on the travel situation constantly and reassured us that they will do whatever is necessary to keep our cancellation costs low. Even though we did not make it for that trip - Rajan made good on his promise to hold on to our deposit to use for our trip the following year - very commendable for his honesty. During our trip, we made a last minute decision to go to Bhutan since we had additional time at hand. In spite of the very short notice, the visa and all trip arrangements were made very promptly for us. It is very apparent that Rajan is very highly experienced as a ex-guide and trip planner, so everything went smoothly for us in spite of a complicated and intense itinerary involving Tibet-EBC-Bhutan-Nepal. The guides we had were professional and took care of us. We enjoyed our trip immensely and would highly recommend Rajan and Earthbound Expeditions to anyone!

Wonderful!
I just returned from this trip, my first to Asia. I was greatly impressed with Earthbound, its level of organization and, above all, its personal touch--with the owner, Rajan, overseeing everything, checking up constantly, and taking us all out to dinner at the end. I highly recommend Earthbound.

Wonderful Tibet and Nepal Trip
My friend and I went on a trip to Tibet and Nepal after graduating from medical residency. I've been to a number of other interesting places in the world, but I must say that this destination makes the top of my list. Both regions allow you to really appreciate the inspiring beauty in spirituality and religious piety. We do not see this in the West anymore, unfortunately. Go soon because the culture, even in once remote Tibet, is changing due to secular influences. We also witnessed some of the most breath-taking natural wonders of the world. Trekking through the Himalayas, I was able to witness the most beautiful, majestic, and terrifying mountain range mankind has ever encountered. And learning about the history of the region really makes you feel small and realize that, as a Westerner, your perspective on the world really is limited. Earthbound Expeditions, along with Tibet Kyunglung Travel Service, made this all possible. Rajan was a great organizer for the trip. He was always prompt in returning our emails and answered all of our concerns, and he took care of all of the fine details, including transportation, stay, and food. We recommend Earthbound Expeditions with the highest enthusiasm, and we hope that you will be able to, and humble enough, and make it to the roof of the world.

Amazing Journey
booked a trip to Tibet with Earthbound in Sept 2014, and over the last 6 months have also booked a trip to Bhutan, and completed 3 treks with Earthbound Expeditions. Every trip I have done has been outstanding with Earthbound, and have the highest praise for this company. Rajan, the owner who I have dealt with for all the trips has been fantastic and has taken care of all the details of all the trips. Rajan is so experienced in the industry, and on top of that, he was so friendly and helpful in all of my dealings. I highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions for any trip you may want to do in this region.

Great bhutan trekking and city tour experience (druk path trek)
went Bhutan via Kathmandu druk path trek. trekking in Bhutan is a luxury trek, 2 trekkers are served by 4 Bhutanese and 5 horses they really helpful along the trek, i brought 2-degree Celcius of sleeping bags where the temperature of camping was -10 Celcius, our Bhutanese fren borrowed us a blanket , otherwise, i would be really hard to get over the4night on the mountain. my advice must bring thick sleeping bag -30 celcius as horses are carrying for u. chilli cheese is clocal favourite food, we quite like it. food prepared from the mountain chef is much better than city food. even local agreed this point. try avoid trekking in winter. we did it , freezing !!

Outstanding service and tour in Kathmandu and to Tibet!
Rajan is the heart of Earthbound and I cannot say enough good about the level of service we received. Some words that come to mind to describe him are trustworthy, organized, professional, personable and dependable. Initially, our tour was scheduled for the end of May 2015, but due to the earthquake, it needed to be postponed until 2016 due to my schedule. Rajan communicated with me immediately after the earthquake and maintained communication throughout the year. I had been a bit unsure about organizing a tour from the USA with a company that I only knew about through TripAdvisor. However, Rajan's professional service reassured me throughout the entire process. This was my second trip to Kathmandu and it was completely safe after the earthquake. Our trip to Tibet was wonderful. We flew both ways to and from Lhasa since the overland route between Tibet and Nepal were still not open after the earthquake. On our return to Kathamandu, Rajan escorted us to a fabulous meal with traditional Nepali music and dance on our last night there. I highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions and also encourage others to consider traveling in Nepal post-earthquake to help them recover economically. Many merchants were very grateful for our presence there.

Multi Country Tour - India / Nepal / Bhutan
I had a once in a lifetime custom trip starting in India going to Nepal and Bhutan. As a single female traveler, I was worried, but Earthbound Expeditions took care of everything for me. Rajan was amazing and I even stayed at his home one day where his wife taught me all about Nepalese and Indian cuisine. I will never forget the time I had and the beautiful sites and places I visited. I highly recommend Rajan and Earthbound Expeditions. Thank you for everything.

14-day Trip to the Himalaya Region!
We discovered Earthbound Expeditions on TripAdvisor while planning a 2 week winter trip to Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. We contacted Rajan, the owner of Earthbound, directly and he was a fantastic partner throughout the planning phases and during the trip. He planned an incredible experience for us, taking care of all the visa requirements for Tibet and Bhutan, and guides in all 3 countries. Furthermore, Rajan took care of all the logistics, from flights between the countries, hotels, itineraries, and transportation. Earthbound provided an incredible and hospitable service, that was well worth the price! We definitely recommend Earthbound, and would utilize their services again when we return to the region! In addition to being extremely professional and kind, Rajan was highly informative and witty (a former stand up comedian)! We always felt well taken care of and hope to return soon! Thank you!

Incredible tour of Nepal and Bhutan
Rajan with Earthbound Expeditions organized an incredible and flawless 12 day trip to Nepal and Bhutan. We visited holy sites in both countries, toured Monkey Temple, hiked to the Tiger's Nest in Bhutan and toured the monastery, stayed at Nagarkot and enjoyed stunning sunrise views of the Himalayas, and visited the Chitwan Jungle to participate in activities such as canoeing, jungle hikes, face to face encounters with elephants at the elephant breeding center, and a jungle safari. We saw rhinos, elephants, crocodiles, and exotic birds on the safari. When Mt. Everest didn't present itself on the flights to and from Bhutan, Rajan scheduled a Mt. Everest flight on our last day. The views of Everest on the flight were awe inspiring. The stewardess allowed each passenger two opportunities to see the views of Earth's tallest mountain from the cockpit. Every guide assigned to our private tours were professional and knowledgeable, sharing historical information and answering all our questions. In addition, at our request, Rajan kindly coordinated two visits to Nepal schools so we could visit the children and make donations. The people of Nepal and Bhutan are the kindest, most peaceful people on Earth. Never did we feel unsafe or in danger. Thamel Eco Resort was our home base. This hotel displayed outstanding customer service and provided excellent meals, helpful porters who took luggage to our room, safe food/water handling, visits from Rajan checking in on our satisfaction, courteous employees who helped us navigate the streets of Kathmandu, and an overall friendly atmosphere. Nabin, our porter and street navigator, is a wonderful, kind hearted gentleman who always looked out for our safety and well being. We were beyond pleased with Earthbound Expeditions coordinating our trip and every need we had. I highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions to anyone looking for an adventure and trip of a lifetime.

Experiencing the Magic of Nepal and Bhutan through Earthbound Expeditions
In May of 2016 my friend Lorrie and I were taking a mountain bike ride through a beautiful Colorado canyon. We stopped for a break and talked about places we wanted to visit during our lifetime. She wanted to see Mt. Everest in Nepal, I wanted to experience the Gross National Happiness country of Bhutan. We put the two together – they are neighboring countries coincidentally – and created the trip of a lifetime through Earthbound Expeditions. Nepal showed us her beauty in many ways. From visiting sacred sites and villages in and around Kathmandu (Swayambhunath or Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Bhaktapur) to watching sunrise over the Himalayas in Nakarkot and canoeing down a river and taking jungle walks to introduce us to the wildlife in Chitwan, our cup was overflowing with once in a lifetime memories. Flying over Everest on Buddha Airlines was also a highlight as was spending time in the lovely courtyard over tea and Momo’s at Thamel Eco Resort in Kathmandu to savor each and every individual experience. Druk Air gave us a magnificent view of the Himalayan mountains as we jetted into Paro, Bhutan where we were escorted to Thimphu, the capital “city” without traffic lights. Bhutan or Druk Yul translates to Land of the Thunder Dragon. A tour of Tashiccho Dzong (distinctive fortress/monastic buildings found in Tibet and Bhutan) greeted us upon our arrival where we were able to witness a flag ceremony of taking down the Bhutanese flag at sunset. During our visit, we hiked through rice paddies to another magnificent Dzong (Chimi Lakhang – Temple of the Divine Madman), visited the 3rd Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition at the National Memorial Chorten, gazed upon one of the largest Buddha rupa’s in the world, Buddha Dordenna and topped it off with a 6 mile hike, 750 stone step hike to Taktsang Monastery, more commonly referred to as Tiger’s Nest. This review would not be complete without properly acknowledging Earthbound Expeditions for giving us this amazing opportunity to experience the magnificence and splendor of these countries and their people. Rajan Simkhada is the ultimate travel and tour operator – he and his team of proficient guides in both Nepal and Bhutan were top notch. Never once did my travelling companion and I feel unsafe or insecure about being visitors in foreign lands. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated everywhere we went. Thank you, Rajan and company for a most excellent trip that will live on in our hearts and memories forever. And Namaste and Kadrin chhe to the people of Nepal and Bhutan!

East Asian Trip Organized by Earthbound Expeditions
Badri Gajurel and Rajan Simkhada of Earthbound Expeditions organized a trip covering Malaysia, Singapore, Bali (Indonesia), Cambodia, Vietnam, Bhutan and Ladakh during last April-May. The trips were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed each day of the trip. Full credit goes to both Badri and Rajan. I have used a few travel agents for my trips every year. But Earthbound Expeditions excel all of them. The most reliable and excellent Travel Agency. I thank and congratulate and wish them all the best!!!

Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet - Excellent Organization!
From the moment we contacted Rajan to the day we left, the treatment we received was very professional and friendly. We wanted to do all three countries in a short span of time and Rajan organized the entire trip. We spent 4 days in Bhutan, 5 days in Tibet and 4 days in Nepal. This was quite an ambitious trip given the time frame and everything was very well organized. From the constant airport drop offs and pick ups and the organization of the respective guides/drivers in each of the countries, which were with local companies. Rajan was very receptive to our questions and comments both during the planning phase and during our trip. We always felt like we were being well taken care of, which is so important when you are going to a part of the world you know very little about! Before each of our little trips, he would come to provide us with a package of info including flight details and contact information and would follow up after to make sure everything went smoothly. Our guide, Resham (in Nepal) was extraordinary! If you are fortunate to have him as your guide, enjoy! He's incredibly knowledgeable and lots of fun. Truly enjoyed our three days with him. I would definitely go back to do a trekking trip with him! Overall, I would definitely recommend Rajan and Earthbound Expeditions. Hope to be back for a trekking holiday next time!!

Amazing Nepal and Bhutan trip with Earthbound Expeditions
We found Earthbound Expeditions via searching Tripadvisor for companies that had a trip to Nepal and Bhutan. We were a little apprehensive booking an expensive tour from a company that we had no face to face dealings with but there were no issues at all and Rajan guided us through everything with immediate email responses to any questions. Then once we arrived in the Thamel Eco Resort hotel in Kathmandu we were greeted by Rajan straight away and he is one of the nicest guys you will ever deal with. He took us through the itinerary for our trip and everything went as expected. If there would have been any issues Rajan is always around the hotel meeting new arrivals and also gave us his card where he is on call 24hr, so you can expect any issues to be dealt with rapidly. Our trip involved a number of check in/outs of the hotel as we were spending nights away, thus we could leave our main bag at the hotel (part-owned by Earthbound Expeditions) and just use overnight bags. Every time we traveled there was always someone to meet us at the airport. Our tour drivers/guides all spoke good English and were all good companies with good local knowledge. Rajan would also ring ahead to hotels so they have everything in order for us, at all the hotels we had no issues and their locations were great. The standard may be a little below European but not by much. They all had good WiFi that was free. The tour we did had a great mix of culture and adventure, with enough downtime so it did not feel rushed or overwhelming. We did a private tour so there was always the option to make slight changes based on the local guide's recommendation. Overall I would have no issues with using Earthbound Expeditions again, and are already in contact with Rajan about a tour next year :-) Also if anyone is looking for a tour to do I would recommend the Nepal and Bhutan tour, its great.

Excellent Tours of Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan
Mr. Rajan was superb in helping us to design a special three-country tour to Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. We started in Nepal with some tours of Kathmandu and then went hiking to Poonhill, this place, that place and others. The hikes were great and Ramjee was a very conscientious and helpful guide. We flew back from Pokara, overnighted in Kathmandu and then flew to Tibet, another fabulous experience. We did not go hiking in Tibet but had plenty of walking in temples and monasteries and great road trips, including the Everest Base Camp. The longest day was from Lo Tingri, crossing the border and then the nine-hour drive to Kathmandu. Next, we flew to Bhutan where we had another very capable and knowledgeable guide and driver to show us the beautiful country of Bhutan. Rajan took care of all the airline tickets, hotels or guest houses, visas, and the itinerary which was very done. We highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions and we will definitely use them again. Thank very much, Namaste! Read less

Nepal and Bhutan......Namaste!!
I returned last week from a bucket list tour of Nepal and Bhutan. My expectations and memories are changing and improving daily. Fortresses and stupas were fantastic. People throughout the tour were wonderful. Guides and drivers were the best. Rajan and his crew were warm and helpful. Scenery....breathtaking. The food was better than expected. If I were to travel to area again i would work with them again. We missed the return of the first of the Black-necked cranes by 3 hours....so I guess I must return. Thanks Rajan and all the great people that made our trip so memorable.

51 Days in Nepal, Tibet, India and Bhutan
5 stars are not enough to describe our experience with Earthbound Expeditions. Mr. Rajan Simkhada, owner of EE, worked with us to custom design the perfect adventure. We used Rajan's hotel, Thamel Eco Resort in Kathmandu, as a "home base", where we stopped to catch our breath in between each country. 9 days in Tibet, 12 days in northern India, 9 days in southern and western Nepal, and 6 days in Bhutan, with a week at the end in Kathmandu. My husband and I had private guides and drivers the whole way. They were professional, attentive to our needs and wishes, and spoke very good English. Guides can make/break your experience, and ours were exceptional. The hotels were clean and comfortable. Our guides helped us select foods that allowed us to safely sample the local cuisine. Our itinerary included six flights and one train ride, we changed hotels nearly every day - and the execution was seamless and flawless. We were well taken care of the entire trip, and made to feel special by each EE associate. The attention to detail was incredible. This adventure more than exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely use Earthbound Expeditions again. A huge thank you to Rajan and his entire crew!

“ Wonderful Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan tour”
I normally don't use company packages as I always do my own research and bookings. This time due to the difficulty of getting the Bhutan and Tibet visas I contacted Earthbound and accepted Rajan's suggestion of itinerary. It was a pleasant surprise as the guides he used in Bhutan and Tibet were very special people with good drivers in comfortable vehicles. As we had only three weeks with the kids (17 and 11) it was important no to have any big mistakes. We had a great time and adjusted the number of attractions we wanted to see along the way as the guides were very flexible. The driving from Lhasa to Kathmandu, although not for the faint of heart will be in my kids minds forever (and ours). We had drivers and guides in all three countries and nothing to complain about. On the contrary, I would use them again and highly recommend it.
