After breakfast in the morning we go for the Kathmandu sightseeing tour. We are going to do the UNESCO CULTURAL HERITAGE TOUR today which includes: Swoyambhunath - The oldest Buddhist Stupa in Kathmandu Valley, a beautiful abode for lots of monkeys thus also known as Monkey Temple, is also a perfect vantage point to see Kathmandu valley. Pashupatinath- A holy pilgrimage for Hindus and Hindu Crematorium, watch as the Hindu dead bodies are cremated in the most unique way in the world; we come across men with ash rubbed body, matted locks and dreaded look which is typical look of a Hindu Holy Men known as Sadhus. Boudhanath- the biggest Buddhist temple in the world; a site for Tibetan Buddhism where we can visit monasteries, watch the Holy Monks busy in their chanting ritual going around the temple. Patan Durbar Square- A Medieval Royal Palace area which is also known as the city of fine arts, we can see the finest example of metal and stone carving back to 14th century and also the amazing Nepali Architecture. Stay in hotel.
Early morning breakfast and we check out the hotel to go to Pokhara. A 7 hours drive by tourist bus takes us to the amazingly beautiful city of Pokhara 200 km west of Kathmandu. The drive is very scenic which goes through the winding and stretching road along side the famous rafting river of Trishuli and later on Marsyangdi. The passing through some beautiful small Nepali towns will give you some glimpses of countryside of Nepal.
We drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek, which is about 1.5 hours drive and we will eventually trek to Tikhedhunga on a nice dirt road alongside beautiful river stream. The beginning of the trek gives you some glimpses of the Himalayan peaks but rest of the day we will enjoy the beauty of green mountain surroundings and local villages. We will spend the night at an effortless Guest House (called the tea house) at 1527 meters.
After a mouth watering mountain breakfast at the tea house we start the trek of the day. Probably the most difficult day of the trek in the sense the trail goes only higher on elevation. The first part of the trek is a steep upward walking for about 2 Hrs and then a gradual upward walk. The walk on the stone paved steps is a daring adventure early in the morning. The whole trail leads you through village and forest to Ghorepani and all the adventure that you dare through out the day will be rewarded when you reach Ghorepani with magnificently close up view of the Himalaya (given the weather is clear). We will stay the night at a Guest House at 2850 meters.
We will hike to Poon hill, the highlight of the trip, about 1.5 Hrs early in the morning to see a spectacular sunrise and the mountain views of 10 different peaks. We will trek back to Ghorepani for the breakfast. After enjoying the second mountain breakfast, we will trek to Tadapani, another great place to take a close up view of the Himalaya. It is a pleasant walk through a lush green forest. Eventually we will stay the night at a guest house at 2700 meters.
We start the trek after breakfast at Tadapani. The trek today will take us to Ghandruk with the walk of about four hours. We walk through forested area and reach Ghadruk to enjoy a stunning view of the Himalayan peaks. We can explore the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk.
After breakfast, we walk to Nayapul for about three hours and drive back to Pokhara. After reaching the hotel and checkin in, there will be some free time for leisurely stroll around lakeside.
We drive to rafting point for about four hours. We meet the rafting crew and they will inform us about the rafting and safety. Three hours on the water is going to be fun and exciting today. We reach the River Camp for the lunch and overnight stay there.
Another day of exciting rafting for three hours. We drive to Chitwan after the rafting is done. Once we arrive at hotel in Chitwan, we will be informed about the schedule for our jungle safari activities and we\'ll follow the schedule.
Full day in Chitwan National Park for exciting activities like: jungle walk, elephant riding, village visit, canoeing, visit to elephant breeding center, bird-watching etc. A nature guide will lead us through all the activities giving us more insights about the wildlife, flora and fauna in the national park. View of wild and aquatic life like rhinoceros, deer, bear, crocodile, and different birds can make our day there. In the evening we can enjoy the Tharu cultural show. Tharus are aboriginal people of the area who have their own language, culture and tradition.
We are driving back to Kathmandu today after our breakfast. It takes us about 5 hours to reach Kathmandu. We can fly back with an extra cost. Later in the evening, we go for farewell Nepali dinner with cultural show in Kathmandu and can have discussion about the trip experience.
We will go for the sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur, a medieval town in the eastern part of Kathmandu valley. After the cultural sightseeing of Bhaktapur, we come back to hotel and you will have free half day at you leisurely pace.
We will drop you to airport for your departure flight.

What a remarkable experience!
We traveled with Earthbound Expeditions as a college group with 16 students and 2 professors in May-June 2017. Rajan at Earthbound worked very closely with us to customize an experience that matched our academic and cultural exchange goals. We hiked in the Himalayas to the magical Tengboche monastery, volunteered in a rural village in Gorkha District, and observed rhinos in the wild Chitwan jungle. We highly recommend Earthbound!
