Although Nepal’s economy is based on agriculture farmers in Nepal are not so pleased with their income, as it encompasses uncertainty of weather and market place for their products despite the labor they put in. Homestay and Cooking Class I had a wonderful time at the Himanshu Homestay Nepal. While the accommodations are modest, the neighborhood was pleasantly quiet so that I was able to get great nights sleep. There are nice sized rooms with toilet and hot water shower. The rooms overlook a garden with patio, so it feels even more spacious. It was wonderful to be included in such a gracious way with a Nepalese family after my long trek to EBC. Anshu Simkhada and her extended family made me feel very comfortable and at home. I really enjoyed the cooking lesson though. It was a full on DalBhat marathon. I learned many tips and tricks from my teacher Anshu, who makes the best DalBhat ever. I also learned how to make pickle, Aalu Paratha, and the infamous Momos. Not only could I take notes but I was also involved in chopping, mixing, stirring, rolling, and stuffing. Thank you so much for sharing Nepal cuisine with me and making it accessible. I can’t wait to try this out on my friends and family in the USA.

Home away from home- being a part of a family On my first travel to Nepal, I was lucky to find Himansu Homestay. My host Rajan and his family were like finding another family in Nepal. My partner and I were given a comfortable room which is an outhouse within the same compound. The master home where Rajan and his family lives was always open to us. We sat together as a family to eat our meals. Rajan's wife Anshu cooks the tastiest food in Nepal, shes an excellent cook and we had a privilege of learning some of her secrete Nepalese recipes at her cooking class. We were very well looked after and never had any problem of any sort. If I visit Nepal again, I would definitely stay with them.

A cultural experience I stayed at the Himanshu homestay for 4 nights and I had a lovely time. The location was peaceful and scenic, away from the hustle and bustle. The accommodation was in close proximity to shops, spiritual places as well as to some touristy spots. The view from the top was simply breathtaking and I witnessed fantastic sunrise and sunsets. The host family was simply charming, accommodating and extremely hospitable, catering to all my needs like my own family. We bonded over meals, conversations and short outings. The meals prepared by Anshu was amazing and it was a fantastic cultural experience learning about the cooking, ingredients and preparation. I was taken by the family to the Pashupatinath Temple (an eye-opening experience), one of the world heritage sites on the very auspicious Shivarathri day and Rajan ji shared all details pertaining to the significance of the event. Best of all, i loved the company of Rajan Ji's son, Arjesh, who is simply a joy to have around. So wise and so cultured for a 10 year old. For anyone wanting a safe, cultural experience with a family, away from the noise and the city, I will recommend the Himanshu Homestay.

First timer in Nepal You do know the feeling of wanting to go back after a weary travel...that's how i felt upon reaching Himanshu homestay! Only a short trip of a week and having been to Lumbini, Pokhara and Kathmandu...i needed a rest and decided and spent 4 nights here. Boy was i glad...comfortable, private, independent room...great traditional Nepal food by the inimitable host Anshu, Rajan's helpful and clear, concise directions; made me feel as i am one of the family. For those who would like to experience traditional Nepali way of life, Himanshu's is the place to be. Thank you Rajan, Anshu for the wonderful stay????????????

Third visit and I’m still coming! I now feel part of the family, a trip to Nepal would not be complete without a visit here. Rajan (Earthbound Expeditions director) and his wife Ansu and children are very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them. The perfect Nepali family! Together with other family members it is truly a pleasure to visit. The meals cooked by Ansu are some of the best you will taste in Nepal. The Homestay on the outskirts of Kathmandu takes you away from the dirt and pollution in the city. There are building works going on around the house but the closeness to the forest make up for that. Thank you Rajan and Ansu.

A Memorable Family & Country Nepal is a special place that provided me an unforgettable experience and part of the reason why is Rajan & Anschu. Anschu is a sweetheart of a woman, wife & mother & you will never leave her table hungry. She offers a relaxed style cooking class & if there are any specific dishes you want to learn how to make, she can instruct. After three months in India, I was addicted to the aloo paranthas & those were my request along with the daal. Rajan is quite a humble entrepreneur from modest beginnings, but he has created a lavish life for himself & his family. Their home is tucked away from the pollution of Kathmandu in one of the suburbs, but one can walk to Thamel in about 45 minutes. Despite his hectic work schedule, he still makes time for not only his family but his guests. He is a fantastic host & will do his best to see to your needs. My entire stay was rather unplanned, but Rajan advised me on hikes & set me up with a knowledgable guide. I visited Pokhara & did a week-long trek. The views, the people, the exercise were unreal. I was traveling alone in Nepal & felt quite comfortable as a solo female traveler in the country. If you are looking for a Homestay experience, look no further as Rajan & Anschu can shape your Nepal experience to be one of the most memorable of your life. Thank you both, again, & I look forward to teaching yoga at your Eco-retreat!
