Annapurna Base Camp Trek: An Overview

The gateway to Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC trek) is the Lake City of Pokhara. You'll reach there via a 6 hours bus ride or a 25-minute flight. From there, we drive for an hour and a half through the lush subtropical forests and traditional farming villages to the starting point of the trek at Nayapul. We trek to Chhomorung via Poon hill and Tadapani, and then we walk through the narrow Modi Khola valley. This hike will bring you to the base of Machhapuchhre and into the Annapurna sanctuary.

The Annapurna region boasts numerous mountains with elevations exceeding 7000 meters (23,000 ft), such as Gangapurna, Himchuli, Annapurna South, Mt Fishtail or Machhapuchhare that rise up over 23,000 ft. The entire region is like a mountain fortress, with a deep gorge leading you into this glacial basin, the Annapurna Sanctuary. The sanctuary is also believed to be the sacred dwelling of Hindu goddesses Annapurna, the provider of nourishment, and Gangapurna. Gangapurna, named after Ganga, the goddess of the sacred Ganges River's life-giving waters.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Kathmandu

Our representatives at Earthbound Expeditions will be right there to greet you as you step off the plane at Tribhuvan International Airport. From there, you will be transferred to your hotel to freshen up, kick back, or perhaps take a little exploratory stroll around the neighborhood. Later in the evening, we'll all gather for a cozy briefing session about the thrilling journey ahead.

Day 2 - Kathmandu Exploration Day and fly to Pokhara (830 m)

After breakfast, we will dive into the rich tapestry of Kathmandu's cultural heritage. At Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, which is located at top of a hill, you'll get panoramic views of the city, and you'll be marveling at the unique rituals at Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site. We'll also visit Patan Durbar Square, a showcase of medieval architectural wonder. By afternoon, we're off to Pokhara by plane, the scenic gateway to the majestic Annapurna.

Day 3 - Pokhara trek to Tikhedhunga (1480 m)

After meeting our trek crew, we'll drive to Nayapul, the starting line of our trek. Our first day on the trail takes us along a picturesque river stream, through charming local villages and lush green landscapes, offering tantalizing glimpses of the Himalayan peaks. By evening, we'll have reached Tikhedhunga, where we'll rest up for the night at a comfy tea house.

Day 4 -Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850 m)

After a mouth watering mountain breakfast at the tea house we start the trek of the day. Probably the most difficult day of the trek in the sense that the trail continues to higher elevations. The first part of the trek is a steep upward walking for about 2 Hrs and then a gradual upward walk. The walk on the stone paved steps is a daring adventure early in the morning. The whole trail leads you through villages and forest to Ghorepani. All the efforts you put out through the day will be rewarded when you reach Ghorepani, with magnificent close up views of the Himalaya (given the weather is clear). We will stay the night at a Guest House at 2850 meters.

Day 5 - Ghorepani - Poonhill - Tadapani (2630 m)

We will wake up early in the morning and take a 1.5-hour morning hike to Poon Hill. The spectacular sight of the sunrise over 10 different mountain peaks is nothing short of magical. From there, we will trek back to Ghorepani for a hearty mountain breakfast. Once we're all fueled up, we'll hit the trail again towards Tadapani. Tadapani offers yet another close-up view of the Himalayas.

Day 6 - Tadapani to Chhomrong (2150 m)

We're off for another day's trek through beautiful forests and charming mountain communities. Our destination today is Chhomrong, a village rich in the culture of the Gurung people, where you can immerse yourself in mountain life.

Day 7 - Chhomrong to Dovan (2,500 m)

Trekking through a lush forest, with occasional encounters with deer and monkeys, we'll make our way to Dovan. The soothing sound of the river as you hike under the towering peaks of Mt. Fishtail and Mt. Gangapurna will make your trek even more enjoyable.

Day 8 - Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) (3,700m)

After breakfast, we'll trek up to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), passing through more stunning landscapes and enjoying breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks.

Day 9 - MBC - Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) (4,130 m) - Dovan

We'll start the day early, hiking up to Annapurna Base Camp, the crown jewel of this trip. Watch the sunrise over the mountains from ABC before heading back down to Dovan for the night.

Day 10 - Dovan to Jhinu (Hot Spring) (1780 m)

We're heading to Jhinu today, a journey filled with ups and downs, but with a rewarding end. At Jhinu, you can wash away the exhaustion under the natural hot spring.

Day 11 - Jhinu - Tolkha - Pokhara

Today, we'll take a serene walk through terraced fields and alongside the river, taking in the heartwarming sight of local villages and the freshness of the forested areas. We will end the day at the charming mountain village of Tolkha.

Day 12 - Pokhara relax and rest

The trek is over; now you have the entire day to unwind at Pokhara. If you feel like trying something thrilling, go for paragliding, zip flying, bungee jumping, and ultralight flights. You can also massage the exhaustion away at a relaxing spa or go boating in the famous Phewa Lake.

Day 13 - Pokhara to Kathmandu

For your way back to Kathmandu, you have the choice of a scenic drive back to the city or a quick 25-minute flight (extra cost). Once back, you have some free time before our farewell dinner in the evening. Indulge in delicious Nepali food as you enjoy a memorable cultural show.

Day 14 - Departure Day

Today marks the end of your incredible journey. Our team will escort you to the airport for your departure. But if you wish to extend your stay and explore more gems, you can always opt for a jungle safari at Chitwan National Park, white water river rafting, yoga, or meditation sessions. You could even get involved in volunteering, homestay programs, or cooking classes.

ABC Trek: Meal and Accomodation

Throughout the trek, you'll be staying in cozy tea houses that offer basic but comfortable accommodation. Meals typically consist of local Nepali cuisine, such as dal bhat, and delicious momos (dumplings).

Meal

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will find numerous restaurants and hotels in almost every corner. Their menus usually have a large variety of items to suit your palate.

Nearly every teahouse along the Annapurna Base Camp trail offers a decent array of meal options, with an impressive menu featuring Dal Bhat, Momos, Spaghetti, French Fries, and more. However, the menu is not very diverse, given the higher elevations, and the items are more pricey. For this trip, we recommend Dal Bhat, as it boasts a high calorie count (430) and is more nutritious than other menu items. You will be sharing the dining table with fellow trekkers and visitors during the trek.

Accommodation

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, your accommodation will be in 3-star hotels. They provide all the necessary amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay. The rooms are usually on a twin-share basis, however, we can arrange for a single room at additional charge.

Throughout the trek, you'll be staying in cozy tea houses that offer basic accommodation. The rooms are usually in a twin-sharing or dormitory style, but as you go higher, you may even need to share the room with other trekkers. Being one of the world's most renowned treks, this region attracts a significant influx of visitors, resulting in teahouses commonly being fully occupied. So, it is difficult getting an entire room to yourself, and that comes with an additional charge.

The rooms in the tea houses usually have beds, blankets, mattresses, pillows, and 'bukhari' heaters (they may not be available in every teahouse). Only a few teahouses in higher altitudes have heating. While there are a few good hotels and lodges along the trail, especially in the lower regions, that provide electric blankets, hot and cold showers, free wifi, etc., they are quite expensive. Teahouses are more popular for accommodation as they are more affordable and provide a unique communal experience.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Guide

ABC Trek is one of the most popular treks in the world that will give you memories to last your lifetime. But before you start packing your bags, here are a few things you should know.

Best time to trek Annapurna Base Camp

Autumn (September to November), is the most popular season to trek to Annapurna Base Camp, so, the trail gets pretty crowded. The clear skies give you an incredible view of the region. Also, the weather makes the trek relatively easy, with temperature ranging from 12 to 20 degree Celsius during the day. During the night, however, it drops to negative 2 to 4 degrees.

The spring (March to May) is another favorable season for Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking. The days are pretty warm and the trails are lively with green leaves and colorful flowers blooming everywhere. The days are warm, with temperatures ranging from 16-23 degree Celsius. At night, it will fall to negative 3 degrees.

The temperature during monsoon/summer (June to August) ranges from 20-25 degrees during the day. The scorching heat makes the climb pretty difficult. The monsoon rain which makes the trail wet and muddy further adds to the difficulty of the trek. There are higher chances of landslides that can block the trails, further extending your journey. So, trekking during this region, while not impossible, can get pretty tricky.

Trekking the Annapurna region during the Winter (December to February) is very challenging; the weather is extremely cold, and the trail gets covered with thick snow. The mountains, however, look incredibly beautiful as they twinkle under the sun and the blue sky. During the day, the temperature ranges from 0-5 degree Celsius while it can drop to negative 15 degrees during the night. There is also the risk of avalanches. Therefore, we do not recommend trekking during winter.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Packing List

While trekking, you only want to carry necessary items; do not carry a different outfit for each day. One porter carries luggages of two people, so keep your luggage less than 10kgs. Every item that you would need while trekking should be in a backpack that you will be carrying.

Clothes

  • Fleece & Down Jackets
  • Full sleeve t-shirts
  • Thermals
  • Neck warmers
  • Trekking boots with ankle support
  • Adequate number of innerwear
  • Warm & Waterproof trekking trousers
  • Warm socks, caps/beanies & gloves
  • Sunglasses & Sunscreen
  • Sanitizers, Wet Wipes & Toilet Papers
  • Flip-flops/Sandals
  • Personal Toiletries

Equipment

  • Duffel bag
  • Backpack
  • Raincoat & waterproof bag covers
  • Water bottles & water purification tablets
  • Hydration bladder
  • Compass, power bank & extra batteries
  • Winter Sleeping bags
  • Flashlight & Headlamp
  • Crampons and gaiters
  • Basic First Aid Kit

Annapurna Trek Permits and Requirements

TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card

The blue TIMS card is issued for groups and costs around US $10 per person. For individual trekkers, a green TIMS card is required which costs around US $20 per person.

ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit)

The permit costs approximately US $20 per person. For SAARC nationals, it costs around NPR 200 per person.

Please note that the cost for purchasing both of them is included in the trekking cost.

Travel Insurance for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Investing in comprehensive travel insurance is highly recommended for the ABC Trek. Ensure your policy covers trekking at high altitudes, emergency evacuations, all medical and treatment expenses, loss of theft and cancellation.

Road and Transportation while Trekking Annapurna Base Camp

The journey to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins in Pokhara, which can be reached by bus or flight from Kathmandu. The bus ride is smooth for the most part. During the trek, transportation is mainly on foot, with occasional jeep or bus rides between trailheads, if required.

Health and Fitness Guide

A moderate level of fitness is required for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. It's not a walk in the park; you'll be ascending to significant altitudes and trekking for several hours a day. However, with the right preparation, even beginners can successfully complete and thoroughly enjoy the trek.

Think about amping up your cardio workouts in the weeks before your trek. Try running, cycling, or swimming to get your heart pumping and your lungs used to working a bit harder. This will make the high-altitude hiking less of a shock to your system. And don't forget about strength training, especially for your legs and core. This will help keep you steady on the trails and make those uphill climbs a bit easier.

If you can, try to squeeze in some hill walks or hikes before you leave. You can also try carrying your actual trek backpack to prepare better. This is the best way to figure out your pace. You will also get used to walking on rough terrains. Remember: for a successful trek you need to move at your own pace and listen to your body.

But it's not all about the physical prep. Understand that you'll be in a remote environment with basic facilities and challenging weather conditions. Having a positive mindset and a can-do attitude will greatly enhance your trekking experience.

If you have any underlying health conditions, especially the ones that could affect your trek, ensure that you consult your doctor. They might suggest a check-up, some vaccinations, or give you some advice tailored to your health history.

Facilities on the Annapurna Trail

The Annapurna Trail offers a range of basic facilities, mostly provided by teahouses and small shops. However, these facilities may become more limited as you reach higher elevations.

Electricity and Charging Options During Annapurna Hike

The teahouses run on solar-powered electricity. Charging opportunities are available at most of them, but it's advisable to bring a power bank, spare batteries and portable chargers. Keep in mind that some tea houses charge a fee for electricity usage per device, which can get very expensive.

Wifi availability at Annapurna Base Camp

While wifi is available at some teahouses along the Annapurna Trail, the connection can be slow and unreliable. Data connection is a bit more reliable, but you will lose connection in different places as you trek.

Network Connection at ABC

You have the option to buy NTC and Ncell sim cards at the airport or from local vendors in Kathmandu and Pokhara. The network coverage of NTC is more reliable than Ncell, so we suggest you purchase the same. There are multiple data plans that you can purchase based on your requirements. It is important to remember that the connection, as you climb higher, gets poor. You will even lose network in some places as you walk along the trail. But they work better in the areas where tea houses are located.

Tea Houses and Rooms on the Anna purna Base Camp

Teahouses along the ABC Trek offer basic yet comfortable accommodation, typically featuring shared rooms with twin beds and communal dining areas. The rooms are not heated; some teahouses do provide traditional room heaters, but you might need to pay an additional charge for it. Private rooms may be available in some locations but are not guaranteed, especially if you are hiking during autumn.

Toilets and Bathrooms

Teahouses facilities generally include shared toilets and bathrooms, which may be squat-style or western-style, depending on the location.

Hot/Cold Water Availability while traveling to ABC

Hot showers may be available at some tea houses at an extra charge but expect cold water at higher elevations. Also, you may not find shower heads in some of the tea houses, instead you will be provided with water buckets and mugs.

Clothing and Gear Shops

You can find clothing and gear shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara, offering a wide range of trekking equipment for purchase or rent. Prioritize purchasing quality gear to ensure your comfort and safety during the trek.

Clinics and Medical Facilities

While there are limited medical facilities along the Annapurna Trail, some health posts and clinics can be found in larger villages. Make sure that your first-aid kit is well stocked. If you are on any prescription, ensure that you carry enough medicines in case the trip gets extended. Please inform us prior about your underlying conditions (if any) before confirming your booking with us. We would also suggest that you look up symptoms and remedy for altitude sickness, HAPE and HACE. As soon as you start noticing any symptom, inform your guide. Remember, your guides know the best, so make sure you follow their instructions.

Really Enjoy my Nepal Trip
Just finished a trip of visiting Annapurna Base Camp. Thanks for the arrangement of Rajan and his stafff. I dont need to bother with the trekking, accommodation and meals arrangement. All I need to do is to enjoy my trip and nature. Thanks for providing me the clean and tidy hotel in Kathmandu and Nayapul. A good guide and portor. All of this really give me an unforgettable trip. Rajan, I was impressive by your heart of improving the quality of life and the education of the children for your country. If I have chance, I will visit the country again! :-)

trekking to Annapurna Base Camp. A very nice experience
A friend of mine and me contacted Earthbound Expeditions through the Lonely Planet trekking guide in Nepal. Rajan Simkhada organized it very well and our experienced guide, Thakur Sapkota, and the porter, Susil, were excellent. They treat us easily like family, always watching to see what we needed and providing us with the best rooms in the teahouses. The landscape was very impressive, especially the night we spent at the ABC when at 4:30 am we were wakened up by Thakur to see all the peaks, lit entirely by moonlight. We won´t forget that image. We strongly recommend this experience.

Excellent Trekking Company - Annapurna Sanctuary
My husband and I went on this trip at the end of November. I often read reviews on trip advisor but thought I would begin contributing - and a review of earthbound expeditions is a good way to start. Rajan and his team were very helpful from the first inquiry emails all the way through to the after trek service. They reserved all of our hotels and make excellent recommendations on which ones to try. The trek was brilliant and the views awesome. Our guide Shree and both of our porters were great company and fun as well as being knowledgeable about the region. We were very well looked after. We would definitely recommend earthbound and will use them again in the future.

A great experience!
I came to know of Earthbound Expeditions after doing some due diligence on TripAdvisor and I have to say that Rajan and his team truly live up to all expectations! From the offset, I got the feeling that I was dealing with a genuine human being who really is interested in helping his prospective customer. Rajan is a humble, warm and down-to-earth personality who goes out of his way to make sure that his customer's needs are fully met and even exceeded. He helped arrange the ACAP permit and TIMS card for my Annapurna Sanctuary trek in next to no time. In addition, Rajan also helped me with my KTM to PKR flight ticket and helped arrange a full day's worth of sightseeing around Kathmandu (tailored to my requirements). All in all, fantastic value. Nepal is the kind of country you go back to time and again. I know who I will be contacting on my next visit!

Amazing trek in Nepal
My wife and I just completed a trek to the Annapurna Basecamp with Earthbound Expeditions, and I cannot say enough about the excellent service provided by this very professional company. We have previously done a few other treks in Africa, and the Nepal trip was by far our favorite. The Earthbound Expeditions crew went out of there way to make sure we had a great time. Our guide, Gopal, was so much fun and informative- the best guide we've ever had. Our porters were always cheerful and lots of fun. Everything went off without a hitch. The food was amazing and the teahouses along the trek were great. The scenery along the ABC trek is second to none- pictures don't do it justice, so you'll have to see it for yourself. The tours and excursions in Kathmandu were also quite impressive. Throughout our planning for this trip, Rajan (EE's president) was unbelievably responsive and helpful. When we met Rajan in Kathmandu, we were impressed by his commitment to his company and his beautiful country. The mantra we kept hearing about Nepal tourism is "Once is not enough." I totally agree. I'm certain we will be back, and we will definitely go through Earthbound Expeditions again. I would recommend this amazing company to anyone thinking about a trip to Nepal.

Made our trip what it was
We booked our trek from Pokhara to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) with Earthbound Expeditions (run by Rajan), and would highly, highly recommend you do the same. This was one of the best things we did in Nepal and we had an absolutely terrific time. Email Rajan before you go to Nepal to start setting things up, rather than getting approached on the streets of Kathmandu by someone who wants to sell you their (probably less amazing) tour. Rajan laid out all the pieces of the trip by email and was very responsive to any changes or questions we had. Once we arrived in Kathmandu he met us in person at our hotel (booked for you by Earthbound) before our trek began. He arranged for a private guided tour of Kathmandu, which was a good way to see the big sites across the city and to adjust to the time difference before setting off. The one small hiccup was that after getting transferred to the Kathmandu airport for our flight to Pokhara (again, arranged by Earthbound), the airline didn’t have a proper record of our flight. It’s unclear whose mistake this was, but all it meant was that we missed our 8:30 am flight and we called Rajan who sorted it all out for us by phone with the airline, and we just took the next flight at 9:30 – no big deal. The trek itself is an unbelievable and rewarding experience, especially if you can make it up to ABC. Certain sections are definitely strenuous (e.g. getting to Ghandruk/Chommrong via thousands of stairs), but there are also flat sections and we took plenty of breaks. The guide we were provided by Earthbound (Maule) met us at the airport in Pokhara and if you go with Earthbound, definitely request him. He’s an incredibly experienced mountaineer, having grown up near Everest and having summited many of the major peaks in the Himalayas. He’s funny, speaks very good English, and we felt totally safe and comfortable with him. Through observation in the early stages of our trek, he learned our pace, adjusted his pace as necessary, and recognized when we needed a break for water or a tea. He pointed out all kinds of things you’d never know/notice on your own, and really made the entire thing run incredibly smoothly. You can do the trek to ABC on your own, there’s really only 1 route and you can ask any of the other trekkers along the way, but having a guide is great, and if you are debating who to use, use Earthbound (and ask for Maule)!

Amazing Trip!
A big thanks to Rajan and his team, we had a fantastic time, all the staff were outstanding and fully facilitated our needs. ABC 10days Trekking
The 10 days of trekking was though but Narendra the guide and 4 porters helped us so much that the walk was much easier than we anticipated. The trails were well maintained and clean. There was always Hot or warm shower at the lodge. Best shower was at Dovan. Hydroelectricity! Trekking without a guide is also possible. However, since the earthquake in 2015 the number tourists has dropped dramatically. The tourism business is the main business of the country is greatly affected. So just by hiring a guide and a porter you have already help to boost the industry. My favorite view was from Tolka. Couldn’t be luckier in terms of rain and hailstone. We managed to arrive at our destination just as the sky poured down. Nepal is a must-visit country if you are a lover of mountains, nature and cultural experience. Everybody we meet in the mountains greet us with a Namaste or a smile.

Amazing experience
The overall experience with Earthbound Expeditions was fantastic, it was hassle-free and very accommodating from every single aspect. I did the Annapurna Base Camp trek and Rajan (president of the agency), Gopal (guide) and Krishna (porter) all did a perfect job in exceeding my expectations on this life-time trip of mine! I strongly recommend this agency for anyone whom is looking for an enhanced experience in Nepal and looking forward to working with them again on my next trip!

Earthbound Expeditions is amazing.
We travelled to Nepal in October 2015 with some trepidation as we did not know what to expect post earthquake (plus there was a fuel blockade from India) We are so glad that we made the decision to go ahead. First of all Kathmandu is out of this world and we were glad we factored in an extra day to savour all of the sights, sounds and sometimes smells! The trek itself was everything and more that we could have imagined. We traveled with two friends and we're joined by two more this made the trip even more interesting as we had lots of stories to tell over the odd beer or two. The scenery is fantastic and the organization from EE excellent. Our guide was very good (Gopal) and we felt in very safe hands. The tourist numbers were down which is a shame as Nepal relies on tourists but hopefully, with time this will chnge. If you are thinking of traveling in Nepal DO IT and do it with Earthbound Expeditions you won't regret it!

Annapurna base camp trek absolutely wonderful but challenging
I can't say enough great things about Earthbound Expeditions. Their man in Kathmandu, Rajan, was extremely helpful. nothing was too much trouble, from the airport transfer to the farewell dinner....and help with buying a few extra pieces of trekking gear....very cheap to buy there rather than fill up your flight luggage. And their hotel of choice, Thamel Eco Resort, was a good place to start....very convenient location. But best of all was my guide Ramjee who was so considerate with all of my needs, including my slower pace.(I'm 66) He made sure everything was looked after and got me back in one piece without any dramas. The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the best treks to see 8 mountain peaks from one location without any special equipment or experience. I was so moved to get to the base camp at dawn and be overwhelmed by the majesty of those peaks ranged 360 degrees around me. I'm more than happy to recommend Ramjee and Earthbound Expeditions.

Earthbound delivers again. ABC trek this time. Amazing!
Having trekked with Earthbound 2 years ago, for a really life changing, expedition to the Everest Base Camp - I was keen to return. Last year I set about negotiating a return trip with some of the friends I had made on my previous trip, and with Rajan, Earthbound's president. Last month (Nov) 8 of us returned to Nepal for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. It was amazing! I dealt with Rajan directly, by email, and we were able to easily arrange an itinerary for the trek. Having trekked with Earthbound before I was entirely confident that everything would be organised to a high standard. Rajan, and his team, delivered a perfect trek, for a really excellent price, with no hidden extra costs. I specifically requested Resham to be our tour guide, and this was honoured, to our delight. Resham is extremely knowledgeable, with boundless enthusiasm and instills great confidence in the groups he guides. Nepali people are very hospitable and Rajan runs a tight ship, where tourist/customer satisfaction is priority. This filters down to the staff in the Thamel Eco Resort, the tour/trek guides and the porters. The 4 porters ('supporters' Resham prefers to call them) on this trek, were really great young men. They carried our heavy bags, served us drinks/food in the tea houses and even though they must've been exhausted they were always courteous and accommodating. It was a pleasure to spend time with them. If you're reading this trying to decide which trek to do then I'd say they are both tremendous. Others in the group prefer the stunning scenery and greenery of the ABC terrain but I think EBC has the edge for me. It's tougher physically than ABC but walking at altitude, with snow-capped mountains as your daily view, creates an enormous sense of achievement. I'm thinking ahead to my next Nepali trek and I know I can't go wrong booking with Earthbound. Thank you, Rajan, Resham, Sunil, Santosh, Rajess, Anil and Davindra.

very professional , prompt and helpful service
Mr Rajan was very professional and helpful right from the beginning. it was very easy to communicate with him over emails. we did a trek of 9 days for the ABC region and nothing could have been more wonderful. Jhilke ji our porter and Amrit our guide was super attentive, supportive, and above all very patient, even when we were exhausted and very tired. the rate which Rajan ji had quoted for us was very reasonable and simply could not have been better. Looking forward to travel with them on the EBC circuit again soon

Great Annapurna trek tour.
We were set up with earthbound through Bohemian tour on Groupon and I’ll admit they’re the tour group to use. Our guide Gopal was such a great guy, always happy and caring and a real joy to travel with. Our 9 person group had 3 porters to carry our gear and those guys were truly amazing. Such hard workers and always in great spirits. The trek thru poon hill and the hot springs was such a beautiful country and the views were always amazing. We were so happy with our trip I cannot even try to express how satisfied we were. Job well done.

Amazing Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
From the beginning of my discussions with Rajan from Earthbound Expeditions I knew I had chosen the right company to experience the Himalayan mountains with. Quick responses to all myriad of questions, great guidance on what to pack and a step by step breakdown of how the trip would work. The whole trip was perfectly planned and delivered. Seeing the mountains close up on the Annapurna Base Camp trek is an experience I will never forget and as a solo traveler I was really happy with the support I was given by Rajan and my guide Narayan. A tough but massively rewarding trek, I would heartily recommend it and Earthbound Expedition to anyone interested in undertaking a Himalayan Trek.

Amazing Annapurna base camp trek
Came here in April - we were two families with 5 kids aged 8-12. Recommended to Earthbound by another family and they didn't disappoint. We did an 8 day trek to Annapurna base camp via Poon Hill. It was one of the best holidays we've ever done. Spectacular views the entire way. Rajan was very helpful in planning the trek, then Bischal our guide was super attentive and conscientious. The porters were also very friendly and helpful and doted in our kids. Kids walked the whole way, but we had trained them in advance by doing 10-15 km every weekend. It is not an easy trek, but fine if you're moderately fit. We'll be back!

Life changing experience to the ABC
The ABC is a lovely trek which provided great views of the Annapurna range of mountains. Our guide Narayan was friendly and hospitable and brought us lots of laughter with his easygoing and comedic nature. He made sure to take care of every single one of us (7 in the group) where our safety and comfort were his top priority. The porters were also amazing and responsible. The itinerary was well-planned and arrangements were wonderfully made. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and I highly recommend earthbound expeditions for a memorable and wonderful trekking experience.

ABC trekking with pals and a funny guide
First time into trekking into the real mountains and the experience is very rewarding. You have to do it for yourself to see it. Most importantly, with a ever so efficient and service oriented company like Earthbound Expedition and their most caring guide, Mr Narayan Neupane who never fails to ask you to drink water and making sure you are never hungry during the trek. He makes the trekking very enjoyable. :) thanks much!

Memorable Experience of the ABC Trek
Earthbound Expeditions provided an organized and well-planned itinerary for our trip to Nepal, specifically the ABC trek. The porters were very helpful along the way. Our guide Narayan N. was extremely responsible and helpful throughout the trek; he made sure and kept looking out for everyone in the group especially our safety and well-being. He made the trek a very enjoyable one with amusing chats and encouragements. Probably the best guide one can ever ask for! And of course, the views along ABC Trek are stunning, a good getaway to be surrounded by mountains and immerse in nature. All in all, it was a wonderful and unforgettable experience - highly recommended!

Land of Never Ending Peace And Love
Conquered the ABC trek with a bunch of great pals, and we just got to credit our guide Narayan and the team of porters quietly supporting us throughout the trip. All the tough times were filled generously with encouragements, laughter and even massage sessions! I'm glad I've made it through this journey of amazing landscape, people, and animals. The journey wasn't easy, but it's just, just, just SO AMAZING! Do engage Earthbound and you're in for a wonderful time in Nepal!

Stunning Trek & Nepal Adventure
Absolutely incredible trip through Nepal, including a trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Earthbound Expeditions is hands down the best company I’ve ever worked with. The airport pickup/drop-off, in-country accommodations, transit between cities, INCREDIBLE guide and porters during the trek- everything was absolutely seamless. The Earthbound staff ended up becoming like a family to us, and the CEO of the company greeted us both upon our arrival and our departure. They have great connections within the country and along the trek. The country itself is absolutely stunning, with the most kind and welcoming people. The trek to ABC was stunningly beautiful. The tea houses along the way are quaint and very comfortable. Absolutely the trip of a lifetime and will continue to book with Earthbound Expeditions for future trips.

Life-changing Trip with an Incredible Team
I just returned back from a 17 day trip to Nepal including site seeing in Kathmandu, a 9 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp, site seeing in Pohkara and a trip to Chitwan National Park. Earthbound Expeditions not only helped plan the itinerary for this incredible adventure, but they were with our group from start to finish. We were able to not only experience the beautiful culture and sites of different cities in Nepal, but safely conquered a challenging trek. The guide we were provided made us feel safe while still letting us explore and modify based on terrain conditions and stamina of the group. We were provided two porters to help carry our larger bags on the trek and they were exceptional. I have not a single complaint about this trip and was sad to leave the beautiful country. I would recommend Earthbound to any and everyone looking for a life-changing, challenging, beautiful and perspective changing adventure!

Beautifully serene
Nepal & the ABC trek are stunning. I am normally a super fast hiker, but every other step & turn of this trek I wanted/needed to pause & soak in the beauty. In addition to the incredible scenery, Earthbound Expeditions created the BEST experience. Everything was seamless - airport pick-up/drop-off, buses between cities, accommodations, etc. Our guide & porters were kind and welcoming - we all became fast friends! Our guide anticipated our needs and was prepared for ANYTHING. Truly, our guide & porters made our trip. I HIGHLY recommend using Earthbound Expeditions. I typically trek without a guide & porters but this company elevated my experience. When I return to Nepal, I will hands down absolutely book my trek & travel through Earthbound Expedition.

Fantastic!
I've never stepped foot in a country with more natural beauty, biological diversity, richness in culture, and kind welcoming people. We had an unforgettable 17 day customised journey all thanks to Earthbound Expeditions. We visited the ancient city of Kathmandu, embarked on a 9 day trek through small quaint villages to the Annapurna Basecamp hidden in within the Himalayas, celebrated the new year paragliding over the lake city of Pokhara, and went on a safari to see the jungle wildlife of Chitwan National Park. Earthbound Expeditions crafted each step of this experience. From airport transport, to our comfy accomodations, delicious meals, and transport between cities. They took care of it all! Even customizing the trip as we went along. Before we left, I questioned the need to have a guide the whole trip. I would have it no other way. Our guide Shree was not only knowledgeable about local culture/nature, but funny, social (he knew everyone), and willing to help us maximize the experience in any way, he also became a great friend. We all agreed he made the trip. This was absolutely the trip of a lifetime. We are already planning on using Earthbound Expeditions to plan another trip to the Mustang region in the coming years.

Epic Proportions!!
Honestly, this was a great experience. From the second we got off the plane in Kathmandu (daunting) Earthbound Ex was there! Our guide/interpreter, Shree, was awesome! He walked along with us and was able to speak all the local dialects. He also spoke very good English and greased all the teahouses so we always had good accommodations. At the end, Earthbound sends you off with a traditional Nepalese meal and a bunch of swag. It was really all first-rate!

Trekking in the majestic Annapurna district
Now that we are all in "lockdown" I'm sustained by my wonderful memories of a" once in a lifetime" trek in Nepal with my daughter in November 2019. Earthbound Expeditions and director Rajan Simkhada ensured a memorable trip to this beautiful country. Pre-trip communication with Rajan was easy and his responses always prompt and helpful. We were in the expert care of guide Devendra and porter Pemba who looked after our every need, their friendly company and local knowledge gave us a great insight into the Nepali way of life.

Both trips were very beautiful.
Dear Rajan, First of all I want to compliment you with your company. You gave very good and honest advice about both trips that I made the trekking to Annapurna 12 days and the 8-day tour to Tibet. I had the best time ever!!! Both trips were very beautiful. The trekking was excellent. The guide that came with me was very friendly and helpful and he knew a lot about the nature and culture of the Annapurna area. The trip to Tibet was fascinated. Tibet is really a mystery with all the monasteries, friendly people and beautiful nature. The accommodations were very fine and the minibus was nice to travel with. I want to thank you for all your help from the beginning to the end. I am really happy that I booked both trips by Earthbound Expedition. I wish you and all your employees all the best for now and in the future. Hopefully a lot of people will experience the beauty of this country, because Nepal (and Tibet) has a lot to offer. Many thanks. Greetings,

I appreciate your excellent service and your flexibility
Dear Rajan, How are you? And how are your ideas going to the Holiday Fare in Holland? I would like to thank you and your guide Gomba for the amazing trekking tot the Annapurna Basecamp, and of course the other trekking. During the trekking to ABC I had 12 wonderful days. The feeling you get at the basecamp when surrounded by the mountains is hard to describe. Those mountains are so big and tall when you stand in front of them. And the trail to the base camp is also very beautiful; the small villages, the green forest, the valleys. An amazing trip! I appreciate your excellent service and your flexibility. And I am sure I also speak for my friends from the care house.Well, see you next time when I visit Nepal and let me know when you start your advertising campaign in the Dutch newspaper.
