Sri Lanka is an island off the south-east coast of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is separated from India by the Palk Strait, across which runs the chain of shoals called Adam's Bridge.
Ancient Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka include Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Panduwasnuwara and Yapahuwa. These places contain the remains of a great civilisation that developed over centuries under the influence of Buddhism, which is still practised in Sri Lanka in a traditional form.

Traditional Sri Lankan food is spicy, so take care with curries. A wide range of vegetables, fruit, meat and seafood is available, and continental, Chinese, Indian and Japanese menus are available in Colombo and other tourist areas. The typical dish is a basic curry made with coconut milk, sliced onion, green chillies, spices such as cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and saffron, and aromatic leaves.

Sri Lanka is one of the most scenic countries in the world and well worth visiting. It is known for its dense tropical jungle, tea gardens, elephant orphanage, beaches and a full calendar of colourful festivals.

Great Company

May 2018, Tripadvisor

From the very start of booking our trip to Napel the communication between Earthbound expeditions representative Badri and ourselves was brilliant. Don't be put off by the fact they only take bank transfer and do not take credit cards. We did extensive research before sending the money over to make sure it was a genuine company. My husband and I could not have been better taken care of, our guide Narayne made everything so easy. He made sure we had the best rooms and importantly paced the trek to make it enjoyable and manageable. I would highly recommend this company. *at the airport be careful of scams. Scammers take the sign from the earthbound driver and carry your bags a few meters and then take money out your wallet as a tip. The drive does not have a choice as can be threaten. Earthbound advise you of this scam, therefore look out for their advice on email communications.

Amazing Staff That Made an Amazing Trip

May 2018, Tripadvisor

Earthbound Expeditions had everything thought out. From the time to you land at the airport to the time you take off again, this company has you in mind and take care of you. They made everything seamless as much as possible with great attitudes. During our trek, I could not have asked for a better guide and porters that were with us during our entire time. I would recommend using this company to anyone heading to Nepal.

Once in a lifetime experience

May 2018, Tripadvisor

Earthbound was an incredible company to explore Kathmandu and the Annapurna region with. My guide, Rajan Neupane was a genuine, caring man who did his best to focus on my well being during our trek. He went out of his way to enhance the experience in the mountains while providing local knowledge of the region I otherwise would have missed out on. My experience wouldn’t be the same without him. I highly recommend visiting Nepal with Earthbound. Fantastic accommodations and quality service. If you can request Raj as your guide you are in for a treat. Looking forward to being back in Nepal.
