Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively lesser-known but beautiful trek located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. As compared to the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp Trek, this is relatively less crowded and less commercialized. The trek can be completed in less than a week, but you still get the opportunity to experience remote mountain landscapes and traditional Nepalese villages.

Mardi Himal Trek: An Overview

Your journey to the Mardi Himal Base Camp begins at Pokhara. As you trek through the rhododendron forests, and the traditional Nepalese villages, you'll feel like you've stepped into a postcard of quintessential Himalayan landscapes.

As you climb higher, the view morphs into a dreamscape. The snow-capped peaks shine like diamonds in the sun- a view that makes every challenging step worth it. At the Mardi Base Camp, the sight of the Fishtail mountain, standing tall and proud in front of you, in all its glory, will leave you speechless.

The Mardi Himal peak - 5587 meter (18,330 ft) itself is classified by the Nepalese government as a "trekking peak".

Mardi himal trek Nepal

Highlights of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

  • Diverse landscapes, from lush forests to high alpine settings.
  • Rhododendron forests and traditional Nepalese villages.
  • Panoramic view of the Fishtail mountain and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
  • Less crowd and more peaceful trekking experience.
  • Short length trek and more accessible for beginners.

Mardi Himal Trek Difficulty

The Mardi Himal trek is generally considered to be of moderate difficulty. It reaches an altitude of around 4,500 meters (5000 meters if the weather and your health allows), and while it's not as high as some other Himalayan treks, the risk of altitude sickness is still present. The trek typically spans 5 days, with 5-7 hours of trekking per day, which can be demanding. The terrain includes steep uphill climbs, narrow valleys, and high ridges, yet it doesn't require technical climbing skills. Therefore, with a decent level of physical fitness, and adequate preparation, the Mardi Himal trek is a fairly manageable journey.

Mardi Himal trek Cost

The Mardi Himal Trek is possible at only $987 per person.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by an Earthbound Expeditions representative displaying a distinctive signboard. They will then escort you to your hotel, marking the start of your adventure.

Day 2: Cultural Exploration of Kathmandu

After savoring a scrumptious breakfast, we'll embark on a sightseeing tour, visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley: Swayambhunath Stupa, a golden-spired monument offering panoramic views of the valley; Boudhanath, one of South Asia's largest stupas where Tibetan culture still thrives; and Pashupatinath, a gold-plated Hindu temple featuring intricate wood carvings and a unique life-death juxtaposition.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pothana (1,950m) via Pokhara

Post breakfast, we'll board a scenic 25-minute flight to Pokhara, Nepal's second-largest city. After meeting our trek crew in Pokhara, we drive for an hour, passing through Nau Danda, Kande, and Australian Camp. Post lunch, we'll trek towards Pothana, soaking in the majestic views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Fishtail, and the entire Annapurna range.

Day 4: Pothana to Forest Camp (2554m)

We'll greet the day with a mesmerizing sunrise and captivating mountain views from Pothana. After breakfast, our journey will immerse us in nature, passing through a dense forest home to birch, giant rhododendron, mountain oak, maple, and hemlock. Weather permitting, we'll enjoy magnificent mountain views on the way to Mardi Himal.

Day 5: From Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3,200m)

After breakfast, our route ascends towards Mardi view points. We transition into a 'cloud forest,' characterized by mosses, lichen, tree ferns, and orchids. We'll enjoy lunch upon arrival at Badal Danda, and spend the afternoon acclimatizing and relishing the dramatic views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and the iconic 'Fishtail' - Machhapuchhare.

Day 6: Badal Danda to Mardi Himal High Camp (3,620m)

Following breakfast, we'll tackle a relatively short, steep climb out of the forest into the alpine zone, reaching High Camp by lunchtime. The afternoon is devoted to acclimatization and soaking in the majestic views of the Annapurna Range, with Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre in striking proximity.

Day 7: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m) and back to Middle Camp

We'll rise early for breakfast and the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp. Depending on weather and health conditions, we may push up to 5,000m, where the breathtaking south face of Machhapuchhre and the ice fields of the Sanctuary Wall come into view. After capturing these stunning panoramas, we'll descend back to Mardi Middle Camp for a well-deserved rest and warm meal.

Day 8: Return to Pokhara

After breakfast, we'll retrace our steps back to Low Camp before delving back into the forest towards Mardi Khola. We'll conclude our trek in the friendly village of Siding, where a Jeep awaits to return us to the comfort of Pokhara. Alternative trek extensions to Sikles, Lawang, Ghalel village, or the Annapurna region are available if desired.

Day 9: Back to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we'll journey back to Kathmandu, either via a 6-hour drive or a quicker 25-minute flight at an extra cost. The evening is reserved for a farewell dinner, complemented by a captivating cultural show, offering a taste of traditional Nepali entertainment.

Day 10: Departure

The adventure concludes with our airport representative accompanying you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable journey through the heart of Nepal.

Tour's Location

Meal and Accommodation during Mardi Himal Trek

During the trek, you'll be staying in guest houses and camps. The guesthouses are cozy and comfortable, providing basic accommodation with beds, mattresses and blankets. The rooms are usually on a twin-sharing basis; during peak seasons, you may need to share the room with 4-5 people.

You'll find typical Nepalese, Indian, Chinese and Western dishes during the trek. However, the local Dal Bhat is the best option- it makes you feel full after a long day's trek and provides enough energy to carry on the next day. While the menu is limited, you get what your body requires for the  trek.

Mardi Himal Trek Guide

Before you pack your bags for the Mardi Himal Trek, here are a few things to know.

Best time to trek Mardi Himal

The best time to trek Mardi Himal is usually during the spring and autumn. During spring you'll get to witness the diverse flora of the Annapurna region in full bloom. The weather is generally stable as well, the cold nights are pretty tolerable. The autumn season features clear skies, providing great views of the mountain peaks. The weather is similar to spring.

Keep in mind that the trails are the most crowded during these seasons, however, unlike other popular treks, the trail, even during peak seasons, has a relatively lesser crowd.

Packing List for Mardi Himal Trek

Since you’ll be trekking upwards along the steep hill, we recommend that you pack light. The porters will be carrying luggage of two trekkers per porter basis, and they’ll be leaving your luggage on campsites & teahouses. This means you’ll need to carry your daypacks with you. Therefore, make sure that your luggage is no more than 15 kg (including your day pack).

Clothes:

  • Base layers - Pants
  • Trekking shirt
  • Rain pants
  • Trekking pants
  • Hiking shoes / boots
  • Camp shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hat
  • Down Jacket
  • Windcheater
  • Toiletries

Equipments:

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Solar Charger
  • Backpack with cover
  • Trekking poles
  • Water bottle
  • Water filter & Purification Tablets
  • Sanitizer
  • Power Bank
  • Head torch
  • Sleeping bag with liner
  • First aid with prescriptions (if any)
  • Sewing & blister kit
  • Insect repellent

Permits and Requirements for Mardi trek

For this trek, you'll need Annapurna Sanctuary (ACAP) permit and a TIMS card. Both these can be obtained from the Tourist Information Center in Pokhara or Kathmandu.

Travel Insurance for Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

You'll need to get a travel insurance policy that covers the cost of medical expenses, accidents, helicopter evacuation, trip cancellation, and other emergency situations.

Mardi Himal trek: Road and Transportation

Following your scenic flight to Pokhara, you'll be walking till your descent back to Siding Village. In the lower altitudes, the paths are well-defined and relatively smooth, except for a few steep sections. As you move higher, the trek becomes more challenging with rough, rocky terrain with sections of loose gravel and scree. These high altitude trails are often exposed with steep drops on one side, requiring caution. Your ride back to Pokhara from Siding Village will be on rough roads, which can get pretty slippery in case of rainfall.

Health & Fitness requirement for Mardi Himal Trek

Getting fit for the Mardi Himal trek involves a combination of cardiovascular training, strength training, and practicing hiking with a weighted backpack. You can start with 15-20 minutes of jogging, cycling or swimming, 3-4 times a week. After a while, you can increase the duration of your workout. Include squats, lunges, step-ups, calf raises, or plank exercises in your workout for strengthening your body. If possible, try to go for hikes on hilly terrain. You may even carry your actual daypack (with essentials) so that your body can get used to it. If it's not possible for you to hike, you can try stair climbing. For flexibility and balance, try yoga or pilates, whatever works for you.

Facilities available during the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp

You’ll be staying in 3 star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, while your accommodation during the trek will be in teahouses and camps.

Electricity and Charging Options in Mardi Himal Trek

Electricity and charging facilities on the Mardi Himal trek are available but limited. Power in teahouses is usually from solar panels or generators, and may not always be available. Charging facilities usually cost extra, and the type of power outlets can vary, and these options may not be available in campsites. Therefore, make sure you bring a universal travel adapter. We also recommend that you carry portable power banks or solar chargers and spare batteries..

Internet, Network & Wifi availability in Mardi Himal Trek

Internet connectivity on the Mardi Himal Trek can be inconsistent, with varying signal strength and speed at guesthouses and tea houses along the trail. Mobile network coverage from providers like Ncell and Nepal Telecom is limited and less reliable as you ascend. Options to stay connected include buying a local SIM card, though signal might still drop in remote areas, or renting a satellite phone or GPS device for emergencies. It's best that you practice digital detox and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Rooms, Bathrooms & Toilets in the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

The rooms tend to be simple, often featuring shared sleeping quarters for 4-6 people, particularly at higher altitude stops. Private rooms are more commonly found at lower altitudes in places like Landruk and Siding.

Bathrooms and toilets are generally external to the sleeping quarters. You can expect basic facilities that may not always include a hot shower, particularly at higher altitudes where infrastructure is less developed. There is often no gas or electric heating for water, especially on the higher reaches of the trek. In case of availability, you'll need to pay an additional amount to enjoy these facilities.

Conclusion

The Mardi Himal Trek is a spectacular journey that showcases the splendor of the Annapurna mountain range. It's an incredible trek for nature enthusiasts and adventure-seekers looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Himalayas away from the crowds.

Gorgeous Trek
An "easy" Nepal trek means trek altitudes are less than 10,000 feet. I was a solo trekker who traveled with a great guide Shree and a fine porter. They made sure I had a safe enjoyable Trek. As a veteran of 8 trips to Nepal since 1989 I would highly recommend Rajan and his staff if you want to go trekking in Nepal. 2011 is Nepal Tourism Year so you must visit Nepal!

Excellent Service!
I was in Nepal with my girlfriend to do the Trek. All I can say is that Earthbound gave the best service I have ever experienced. Ajay, our guide, Davindren and Partun our porters took excellent care of us throughout our stay. 2 incidents summed it up: After the Poon Hill trek in the morning, we were going on to our next checkpoint. 45 minutes into the trek, Linda realised that she had left her jacket behind at our last lodge. Without hesitation, Ajay went down the hill to retrieve it, without a complaint! Our porters and us continued on and Ajay caught up with us within 20 minutes, with perspiration and a smile on his face. At Birenthanti, our last stop before heading back to Pokhara, Ajay noticed that we did not enjoy our dinner of Mashed Potatoes. He promptly ordered chocolate pudding and another plate of fried noodles (which I think he paid for out of his own pocket). For more pictures, our travel journal "the intrepid monster - travels in Nepal" is up at -- I would say, if you're going to Nepal, do engage Earthbound Expeditions!

Nepal is wonderful with Earthbound to guide your footsteps!
Our first trip to Nepal and no one could have been a better guiding hand than Earthbound. From the moment we sent our first email till we were wished a smiling goodbye at the airport, our every query and every need was seen to and dealt with so efficiently - it really was a wonderful holiday. We did the Poon Hill Trek and had the wonderful Nama as our guide and the equally great Krishna and Leki as our porters - who happily cajoled us up the mountains - especially when spirits were flagging! When one of us fell sick - Nama had medicines at hand and was so calm and in control - we were so impressed! Many, many thanks to Rajan and his dedicated team for all the great work they're doing both with treks as well as work with schools in the region. All of us have such happy memories of Nepal and all the beautiful people we met - pheri bhetunla - we're sure to meet again!

We were well taken care of and left making friends
I didn't know Earthbound Expeditions was so highly rated on Trip Advisor, until after I had chosen to engage them.I could quickly see why so many people are pleased with the services Rajan's company has to offer. I chose to trek with Earthbound Expeditions because they were the most responsive to my emails and many little queries, patiently. I was very impressed with the prompt and efficient responses. I felt that I would be in good hands in Nepal, and indeed, that was so. We did the Poon Hill trek, and included white water rafting and mountain biking. Earthbound designed the itinerary according to the activities we wanted to do, and there were no slip ups. We were also really pleased with the guide Namaraj and porter Hari, for they were such great company! We had many pleasant conversations along the trek with them, and other trekkers, and were quite sad that we did such a short trek! As hard as it was for us, the encouragement of our guide and porters and patience was very nice to see. We wished we did a longer trek for we truly had much fun! Rajan gives his clients really good personal attention, and met us for dinner - the Nepali cultural show. Its really nice to meet with such a motivated and ambitious person who is truly making a difference in the industry. I believe he has one of the most comprehensive programmes and there are loads of activities you can choose to do with Earth bound - there is even a charity trek. Truly enjoyed it, and I could not had asked for more. I intend to go back, and will certainly engage Earthbound again because I do trust that they can do a good job, and they give the assurance that you need in a foreign country. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Rajan and Kedar !! Out of this world !!
I have met alot of kind people .. but as kind and trustworthy as Rajan And Kedar there is no waay !! you really feel so shy dealing with them coz all that they care about it your satisfaction ... Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to trek but I will definitely go on a 10 days ABC and Poonhill trek soon .. I loved Nepal .. Sarangkot sunrise watching and then parachuting was amazing hiking throw the Nepalese villages for couple of hours before getting to the peace stupa then down the mountain forest to the lake was all incredible ... I would definitely come there again and if I would do it i would directly blindly head towards Earthbound expedition because as my 3.5 years of travelling I haven't dealt with such kindn and trustworthy people ... All the love from Dubai !!

excellent guides and service
We recently did the Poon Hill trek with Earthbound, and could not have been happier. Our guide Nama and porter Sankar were fabulous, and everything expertly organised. Its easy to get dodgy guides and companies in KTM and Pokhara, and we were so relieved to have organised this in advance. Couldn't give a higher recommendation.

Poon Hill Trek and Thamel Eco Resort..an oasis of calm!
expected to have a wonderful time on my Poon Hill Trek but it surpassed all expectations. I was travelling by myself to Kathmandu to join a group and by having the first night at Thamel Eco Resort was a great way to meet my fellow 'trekkers'. The trek was amazing...so many unforgettable moments....scenery,people, smiles, lots and lots of laughter and very well organised. Rajan Simkhada was the organiser and did a wonderful job and was very forthcoming in a vast array of helpful advice. Our trek leader, Ghopal was incredible and seemed to pre-empt any potential issues. We had a nickname for him 'mountain goat' as he to moved incredibly quickly and was there with a helping hand. He led an equally helpful and wonderful team of Jayasing, Santosh and Shani. Thank you to all of them! The staff at Thamel Eco Lodge also had the highest standard of customer service and always done with a smile. A wonderful place to stay and recover from the 'business' of Kathmandu. Overall, my trip was absolutely wonderful and an experience that I will never forget for all the best

Nepal is breathtaking
My friend and I went on the Ghorepani/Poonhill trek and had an amazing time. Nepal is absolutely beautiful and the people are incredibly friendly. The trip was well organized, and our guide Namaraj was very helpful and attentive to our group's needs during the trek. One of the best experiences I've had traveling.

Excellent Everest trek - fantastic company
My sister and I did the Poon Hill trek last year and enjoyed it so much we returned for the Everest trek this month. I can't say enough good things about Earthbound Expeditions. Mr Rajan is a smiling, warm and truly caring host. Our guide for both treks was Shree Ram Adhikari.. In a word, outstanding. In fact, the reason we were so keen to come back was down to our trust in both the company, and Shree's knowledge and experience. He's also lots of fun to be around. But remember, you're not in Kansas anymore. It's Nepal. It's a third world country. As hard as they try.. And believe me they do.. Nothing is going to run exactly to plan, so be prepared to go with the flow. Rein in your expectations (when it comes to accommodation standards in the mountains, timing of flights, etc) And you will be vastly rewarded. The scenery was epic and spectacular, but above 4000 metres, it gets hard.. VERY hard. We've decided we'll probably stick to lower altitude treks in the future, but thank you, Earthbound, for an unforgettable adventure, and for looking after us every step of the way.

Exceptional service, guides and porters
I went on the shorter Gorepani circuit trek with this company. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everyone in the four groups we were trekking with were taken very good care of, especially those that had trouble with the necessary exertion required for Himalayan trekking, and those unfortunates who had "tummy troubles. I cannot recommend highly enough, but make sure you are very fit before you go.

No one does it better!
We booked the Poon hill trek and had a wonderful wonderful time with our guide Ram and our porter Gopal. Right from the start when we met the owner Rajan we felt that we were in the hands of pros. Our guide Ram had 16 years of experience in trekking, had run the Mt. Everest marathon was certified in first aid and was also a certified chef. He was warm, cheerful and extremely knowledgeable about the terrain and the culture and made our trekking experience a memorable one. In addition, when we met and talked to other Trekkers we also realized that the price that was offered to us was the best anyone else had received. I highly highly recommend this trekking company and wish them luck for the future and hope to see hem soon again!!

Amazing Tiger Trek Poon Hill
This was an amazing experience and Naren our guide was great. The whole trip and the people we met made it amazing and the views and friendships we made were what made this trip great. The earthbound expeditions is also with Bomehian Tours out of Groupon so it is the same partnership but the porters the guides and our group made this trip of a lifetime. I for one will be back to go again to Everest base camp next year. If anyone is interested in this trip don't think twice it is heaven and you will love it. I lucky to have such a great group to trek and even celebrated my birthday there and thanks to new friends the best one yet. Low expectations and you will love it.

The best!!!
I 've done the poon hill trek with 2 friends and I have only good things to say about this agency. Our guide, Shree, was an amazing, great photograph. He was glad to modify our itinerary at our will to accommodate our schedule, which implied walking like 10 hours in one day carrying our bags. The quality of the food and accommodations was above expectations. If i come back to nepal i will do business with them again for sure and you should to!

Earthbound Expeditions - Pravin Baniya tour guide - Nepal treks
We recently completed a short 6 day Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek. We booked through Earthbound Expeditions having found the price very reasonable and the service very professional. It was perfectly organised and we managed to see some breathtaking parts of Nepal in a very short space of time. Pravin was an excellent tour guide. He is a very proud, young Nepalese man with lots of trekking experience. He is full of character and provided a great company for the two of us. He looked after us every day and ensured we had a comfortable, fun and enjoyable trip. It was great listening to all his trek stories. His English was flawless and we had no problems communicating with him. In the end, he was our friend, not just our guide. We were very fortunate to have a great tour company and an exceptional tour guide. I would recommend Earthbound Expeditions and in particular Pravin, to anybody who is considering doing a trek or tour of Nepal! No complaints and great memories.

My friend Julie and I have just had the most amazing trip, trekking the Ghorepani Trail with two wonderful guys, Hari our guide and Ganesche our porter. Both were great fun, caring and informative, big thankyou to both of them for making our trip so rememberable. Everyone involved with Earthbound were fantastic, we didnt have to organise anything, it was all done for us. Special thankyou to Rajan, nothing was to much trouble for him. We cant wait to come back to do another trek. Thankyou to Neapalese people

Poon hill 4D/3N trek
We had a great trek with Earthbound! We saw many people along the path doing it themselves, and while I am sure it is quite possible, it was nice to have someone to set the right pace, guiding the way and having everything planned ahead (nothing worse than getting to a village tired and having an argument with your partner about where is the best place to sleep and eat). It also felt safer in case something went wrong. We compared prices from several operators and EB was the cheapest. We thought a porter was a non-negotiable but in the end, we had only a small bag that he carried and we just carried the water…so you can maybe negotiate about a porter (though he bought such personality to the trip it was well worth the cost!). While this trek is listed as an easy one, I would caution people who don't like lots of stairs up and down! If you are going in Winter take some crampons with for the few snowy/icy patches. Accommodation is basic but pleasant. Food prices on the menus along the way were as high as Thamel, as stuff often needs to be brought in by donkey for the tourists. Our hotel back in Pokhara booked by EB (Pokhara Eco Resort) was fancier than any place we had stayed in so far!

Magnificent!
We had a blast during the trek they organized for us. We went to Poon Hill, and the guides, porters were just amazing. They always find solutions to fit everyone's needs, whatever the circumstances are. This was one of my best experiences ever. The trek was just amazing, and I would definitely contact them again for any future treks or expeditions in the neighborhood.

Nepal is a must do.
I'm not one for writing reviews good or bad, but after having such a fabulous trip to Nepal last October I felt the need to leave some positive feedback about this beautiful country. Through a recommendation, I booked my holiday with Earthbound Expeditions about five weeks prior to my trip and they were fantastic. They accommodated me as a solo traveler despite not having any treks scheduled for the period of time I was traveling in Nepal. Nothing was too much trouble for them, from the hotel staff in Katmandu & Pokhara to the President of earthbound, Rajan who made every effort to make sure my trip was tailored for what I wanted to do. I ended up doing the Poon hill trek, which was fabulous and relatively easy, along with some white water rafting. My guide, Ray was very knowledgable and enthusiastic, which made the trip even more enjoyable, if that's possible! Nepal is a fantastic, extremely friendly and very safe country to visit despite all It's problems after the earthquake and the ongoing fuel shortage. I would encourage anyone who likes a little bit of adventure to visit Nepal, it was everything I expected and more, and you won't go far wrong if you let Earthbound Expeditions organize your trip for you.

Trip of a lifetime!
I traveled solo on 4 days/3 nights Poon Hill Trek in Annapurna. From the moment I arrived at Kathmandu airport- Rajan's guides and drivers took great care of me. Kumar was great and showed me everything in Kathmandu. However, any words of appreciation would not be enough for my fantastic guide -Bharat Maule who guided me through the trek. He took me to the nicest guesthouses with great lodging and food and ensured everything during the trek went smoothly. Most importantly - I felt very safe during the trek knowing that he was the guide. Thank you Rajan for providing such a great experience - you allowed me to make changes to the itinerary even at the last minute. You truly practice "Athithi Devo Bhava". I hope to return to Nepal soon and I would love to book a longer trek with you again!

I went on a solo trip to Nepal and am so happy I chose Earthbound Expeditions! Tour company for all first timers to Nepal
I was well taken care of since the night I landed Kathmandu. Despite the busy airport, there was no trouble finding my Earthbound driver and arriving at the hotel swiftly to prepare for flying to Pokhara early next day for the 4-day Poon hill trekking. Once landed, my newly met travel buddies and I were immediately greeted by our tour guide Namaraj Sapkota who did not only arrange everything well planned but also made adjustments according to my new requests such as lengthening the stay in Pokhara and shortened the one in Kathmandu (which no doubt was the best decision in order to enjoy the lovely town with the new year fest). Certainly, the highlight has not come until we were on the trail! The joy of gathering around the tea house heater, meeting new friends from all over the world, and listening to our tour guide Namaraj Sapkota sharing about life & experiences in the mountains all exceeded my expectations of trekking in Nepal. Lastly, the views of Himalayas were simply something I couldn't get enough. I shall definitely come back to nepal and go again with Earthbound and request for the best tour guide Namaraj Sapkota. Namaste!

Wonderful Family Trek to Poon Hill and Chitwan
We had an amazing time trekking to Poon Hill with excellent guide Arjun and porters Kedhar, Passant and Barrat (apologies if misspelled!). We were travelling with our four children aged between 8 and 14 and they all loved the experience. The Himalayas are just stunning. We also went rafting for a few hours (maybe a bit too cold in January!) and to Chitwan for a couple of days where we really enjoyed the canoe, walking, jeep and elephant safaris. What a fabulous experience. A holiday to remember! Thank you Earthbound Expeditions for organising it all so well and for providing such great guides.

Awesome tour company
We booked a tour with Earthbound Expeditions for our 20th anniversary. We spent a day in Kathmandu and 4 days hiking to Poon Hill. We were well taken care of the entire time by Rajan and his team. We enjoyed our time with Ramjee and Rajendra. They seemed to know when we needed rest and were also pushing us on the miss the rain which was very much appreciated. Poon Hill is with the steps and the “Nepali flat” hikes.

Poon Hill Trek
We did a five day trek with our guide Thakur and our porter Manoj. Their friend Niroj who is a great photographer also joined us which make this trek even more fun. We spent a night in Kathmandu before departing to Pokhara to start our five day trek from Nayapul. We met the owner of Earthbound Experditions Rajan in our hotel. He is a super nice guy. He explained everything to us and provided lots of information that we need to know before our trek. Thakur and Manoj were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Manoj carried lots of stuff on his back and ran with his barefoot in the rain which was amazed by us. We enjoyed the trek and the scenery very much. We stopped at most of the tea houses for snacks and breaks. I loved the momos and masala tea. To be honest with you, I have never seen so many tea houses in my whole life. The lodges were basic, cleaned and comfortable. The trek is moderate to difficult at times especially with the stone steps. It was foggy when we were up at Poonhill. The sky slowly cleared out and finally we saw the sun rise. It was an amazing journey through the Annapurna mountain range. It definitely worth the trip.

Mesmerising trip Wonderful Nepal trek
Our first visit to Nepal did not disappoint, the quality of the service provided by Earthbound Expeditions was amazing. Rajan and the team could not do enough for me and my wife on our trip - they organized our flight to view Everest and arranged the flight tickets for the flights to Pokhara - nothing was too much trouble. The actual trek to Poonhill was outstanding, my wife and I were the only two people on the trek and we got to know our guide and porter very well. We had fun with them and the trek was outstanding - the tea houses were all of a great standard and the food selection in the tea houses was sufficient. It was my wife's birthday whilst we were on the trek and Rajan had put me in contact with the owner of the teahouse to arrange a cake on her birthday which was a lovely experience. I cannot recommend Earthbound Expeditions enough the team made the trip one to remember and this will not be our last visit to Nepal

It was such a wonderful journey
What I liked most about our Guide Shree and our Porter that they were always joyful and also gave me and my friend some space if we needed it! We could walk at our own pace if we wanted to but also were there when we needed them! We saw and experienced so much and I will come back for sure! We gained wonderful friendships as well :-)

Wonderful 3 day trek during Nepal monsoons
my first visit to Nepal was absolutely wonderful experience with Earthbound Expedition. Bharat took care of my stay and Arjun was a great companion and guide during the hike and also educated me with loads of information about everything in Nepal. Although I visited during the monsoon season I got glimpses of some of the peaks which was just mesmerizing. Arjun was very patient and took care of my safety on the wet trails. Earthbound Expedition made sure I catch my flight out of Katmandu on time. Special thanks to Bharat and Arjun for taking great care of me. I will definitely use earthbound services in my next visit to Nepal.

Ghorapani-Poon Hill trek, Chitwan, and more
My wife and I recently completed a wonderful 17-day trip in Nepal organized for us by Earthbound Expeditions (late October - early November). It included 5 days of hiking and exploring around Kathmandu Valley, a 5-day Poon Hill trek, and several days in Chitwan, interspersed with free days in Pokhara. We were extremely happy with all aspects of the trip. Rajan, the owner of Earthbound, was great from the word go. He was very helpful in planning the itinerary, very responsive to any questions and ideas we had, and quickly replied to emails before and during the trip. He’s a really dynamic and down-to-earth guy - we enjoyed meeting him in Kathmandu. We were pleased with all the accommodations he booked, which ranged from 4- and 5-star hotels to basic guesthouses on our trek. We also spent ten great days with Bishal, our guide. He was knowledgeable and patient, had a great sense of humour, and readily adjusted to our less-than-speedy pace (we’re both in our 60’s). We highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions.

Perfect trip!
The company organized a trip to Chitwan and a Poon Hill trek with our amazing guides Gyaljen and Sarki. Everything ran smoothly and on time and we felt well taken care of every step of the way. I can’t say enough good things about Gyaljen and Sarki who taught us traditional trekking songs, shared food and stories, played card games, and went from strangers to friends in a matter of days. They were professional, chose excellent tea houses and lunch spots, and were incredible company throughout. Great experience!!!

Gyalgen Sherpa was amazing!
Before we set off on the Ghorepani/Poon Hill trek, I saw other people heading off on their own and I wondered if having a guide was really necessary, but Gyalgen was so amazing that now I can’t imagine trekking anywhere in Nepal without him. He did everything to give us the best experience possible, always knowing where to find the best view, the best food, or the best rooms. He was very knowledgeable about the area and his English was amazing. We always felt in good hands. While I was with a friend on this trip, I’ve travelled a lot on my own as a single woman, and I can say without hesitation that I would feel 100% comfortable trekking with Gyalgen on my own. On top of everything that makes him an incredible guide, he’s also a very special person, and it was a delight to spend a week getting to know him. I can’t wait until the next trek! Also, Earthbound Expeditions was a great tour company - they made everything easy and seamless. Thank you for an incredible adventure.

Annapurna Panarama near Poonhill Mountain
I hope to inform you of things that you can do so your experience will be just as beautiful as mine. I am an athletic 33 year old male. I came with my dad who is 64 years old and in good shape. The hiking was fairly easy. The mountains were breathtaking. The monkeys in the trees were fun to watch. We came in mid March so the Rhododendron trees were beginning to show their colors. Our guide was Namaraj (Nama), who spoke good English and who was very informative about the mountains and scenery, along with giving us background on the people of Nepal and their culture. My favorite part of the hiking was walking through the villages. I wish I would have brought school supplies to give to the school up in the mountain or to give to some children we passed on the trail. We had wifi at every place we stayed each night. Very inexpensive. We had warm showers as well. We were awakened one night from a little earthquake. Our guide moved us into a more secure living quarters. Our guide, Nama, was wonderful! Most people speak English, but the locals love it if you can say a couple of things in Nepali.
