Overview

Conquering Mount Kilimanjaro

Embrace the mountainous challenge, revel in the alpine air and behold the serene beauty of wildlife traipsing through one of the most scenic trails up to the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro (5,895 m).

Amongst seven official trekking routes to scale the Kilimanjaro including the widely proclaimed as the most scenic Machame, Lemosho route is now considered as the equally beautiful route if not more. As one of the newer paths, Lemosho grants the beautiful scenery, low horde, and mostly high summit success rate.

The route approaches Mt. Kilimanjaro from the west with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. For the first two days, the trek goes through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. Then the trail passes the entire Shira Plateau from west to east on a pleasant path and connects to the famous Machame route at Lava Tower. Next, the way heads down towards Barranco Valley via the alpine desert zone and traverses the Barranco Wall. The summit attempt is made from Barafu early in the morning all the way up to Uhuru peak (5,895 m) for the mighty sunrise view. After the summit, the trail descent via the Mweka route.

The climb of the Kilimanjaro should not be underestimated. For the peak to be scaled, it is essential to be physically as well as mentally prepared. Sufficient groundwork and your intense passion, there you’re at the summit of Kilimanjaro conquering all the obstacles.
