Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet tour: three countries in one trip

Our Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet tour covers the main destinations of these mountainous Asian countries, with a focus on their spiritual and cultural heritage. You visit centuries-old heritage sites in Kathmandu and learn about their architectural and religious significance.

The journey continues to Tibet, where you visit the Potala Palace, the 1,000-room palace of the Dalai Lama, built with mud.

After a tour of the holy city of Lhasa, you drive over the Kamba La pass, with the snow-covered Himalayas in the background. The trip then takes you to Bhutan, once an isolated nation and known as the last Shangri-La. The Himalayan region of Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan has much to discover.

You hike to Tiger's Nest, drive scenic highways and visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You also learn about the traditional culture of the Himalayas through visits to Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples.

If you wish to extend your trip, you can combine the tour with other destinations such as India, Everest Base Camp from the Tibetan side, Myanmar or Sri Lanka. We also offer Nepal and Tibet tours and Nepal and Bhutan tours.

Earthbound Expeditions is recommended by Lonely Planet, TripAdvisor, The New York Times, The Guardian and many other national and international newspapers and magazines. This tour of three countries (Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet) starts from USD 5467. For more information on trekking and hiking trips, please contact us.

Below the museum is Paro Rinpung Dzong, the centre of civil and religious authority in the valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional covered cantilever bridge. A short distance further is one of the many archery grounds (archery is the national sport of Bhutan), where you may see a match in progress. In the late afternoon, drive to Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan, which takes around 1.5 hours. Thimphu has a population of about 98,000. Leaving Thimphu, the road climbs steeply through pine and cedar forest hung with lichen, up to the Dochula Pass (3,050m). The pass often gives panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. After a stop for tea and the view, we descend a series of hairpin bends to the fertile Punakha Valley. Expected great, got much more

October 2023, Tripadvisor

Before Covid, I longed to travel to the Himalayas and happened upon Earthbound’s website. The Nepal/Tibet/Bhutan trip sounded wonderful and I reached out to Rajan, it’s owner. We planned a customized private trip for my wife and I along the basic lines of the itinerary. Well, due to the pandemic we were forced to delay the trip multiple times and as availability and geo politics required changes and adjustments, Rajan worked continuosly with us to design the best possible experience. We probably emailed each other over 200 times and his responsiveness, professionalism and very friendly manner was the same on the last one as on the first. We just returned, and we will need time to fully appreciate the cultural richness, visual wonder and excitement of this extraordinary trip (so many remarkable moments.) We are experienced travellers and have worked with several very highly regarded travel outfits. None of them came close to the level of concern, flexibility and oversight that Rajan provided us throughout. If this region of the world interests you, call him.

“ Wonderful Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan tour”

April 2019, Tripadvisor

I normally don't use company packages as I always do my own research and bookings. This time due to the difficulty of getting the Bhutan and Tibet visas I contacted Earthbound and accepted Rajan's suggestion of itinerary. It was a pleasant surprise as the guides he used in Bhutan and Tibet were very special people with good drivers in comfortable vehicles. As we had only three weeks with the kids (17 and 11) it was important no to have any big mistakes. We had a great time and adjusted the number of attractions we wanted to see along the way as the guides were very flexible. The driving from Lhasa to Kathmandu, although not for the faint of heart will be in my kids minds forever (and ours). We had drivers and guides in all three countries and nothing to complaint about. On the contrary, would use them again and highly recommend.

Excellent Tours of Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan

April 2018, Tripadvisor

Mr. Rajan was superb in helping us to design a special three-country tour to Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. We started in Nepal with some tours of Kathmandu and then went hiking to Poonhill, this place, that place and others. The hikes were great and Ramjee was a very conscientious and helpful guide. We flew back from Pokara, overnighted in Kathmandu and then flew to Tibet, another fabulous experience. We did not go hiking in Tibet, but had plenty of walking in temples and monasteries and great road trips, including the Everest Base Camp. The longest day was from Lo Tingri, crossing the border and then the nine hour drive to Kathmandu. Next we flew to Bhutan where we had another very capable and knowledgeable guide and driver to show us the beautiful country of Bhutan. Rajan took care of all the airline tickets, hotels or guest houses, visas, and the itinerary which was very done. We highly recommend Earthbound Expeditions and we will definitely use them again. Thank very much, Namaste!

Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet - Excellent Organization!

November 2017, Tripadvisor

From the moment we contacted Rajan to the day we left, the treatment we received was very professional and friendly. We wanted to do all three countries in a short span of time and Rajan organized the entire trip. We spent 4 days in Bhutan, 5 days in Tibet and 4 days in Nepal. This was quite an ambitious trip given the time frame and everything was very well organized. From the constant airport drop offs and pick ups and the organization of the respective guides/drivers in each of the countries, which were with local companies. Rajan was very receptive to our questions and comments both during the planning phase and during our trip. We always felt like we were being well taken care of, which is so important when you are going to a part of the world you know very little about! Before each of our little trips, he would come provide us with a package of info including flight details and contact information and would follow up after to make sure everything went smoothly. Our guide, Resham (in Nepal) was extraordinary! If you are fortunate to have him as your guide, enjoy! He's incredibly knowledgeable and lots of fun. Truly enjoyed our three days with him. I would definitely go back to do a trekking trip with him! Overall, I would definitely recommend Rajan and Earthbound Expeditions. Hope to be back for a trekking holiday next time!!
