Homestay and Cooking Class I had a wonderful time at the Himanshu Homestay Nepal. While the accommodations are modest, the neighborhood was pleasantly quiet so that I was able to get great nights sleep. There are nice sized rooms with toilet and hot water shower. The rooms overlook a garden with patio, so it feels even more spacious. It was wonderful to be included in such a gracious way with a Nepalese family after my long trek to EBC. Anshu Simkhada and her extended family made me feel very comfortable and at home. I really enjoyed the cooking lesson though. It was a full on DalBhat marathon. I learned many tips and tricks from my teacher Anshu, who makes the best DalBhat ever. I also learned how to make pickle, Aalu Paratha, and the infamous Momos. Not only could I take notes but I was also involved in chopping, mixing, stirring, rolling, and stuffing. Thank you so much for sharing Nepal cuisine with me and making it accessible. I can’t wait to try this out on my friends and family in the USA.

We had a great time learning to cook some traditional dishes with Anshu at her home in Kathmamdu. She was such a warm hostess and taught us a handful of tasty dishes in about 4 hours - including time for eating our homemade meal. Her recipes came out great and having just four of us in her own home made for such a special, intimate experience. Thanks again Anshu!

My friend and I did the traditional cooking class last week and it was a fabulous experience from start to finish. We only booked flights 2 days before arriving in Nepal so I was a little worried about being booked in to the class but I emailed the contact and to my surprise recieved a reply with in couple hours and everything was booked woth transfers to and from our hotel with such ease. Our pick up was on time and efficient and once we arrived at our destination we recieved a warm welcome and got straight into the kitchen to start our class. Anshu was very welcoming and a fabulous teacher. We learnt so much from our cooking class and the food was the best we had in Kathmandu! She took us through multiple dishes step by step and we were able to share the meal we helped make with the whole family. Truly a great experience and I would recommend to anyone visiting Kathmandu. Thank you for the great experience!

Truly exceeded my expectations. Rajan and his wonderful wife invited us into their home for this unforgettable experience. She helped us learn the spices and culinary delights of Nepal. Step by step guided us thru an authentic Nepalese meal rich in cultural diversity. We made Dal Bhat; flavorful and fulling. Perfect meal before embarking on our Annapurna Hike. Definitely recommend this culinary treat to embrace the Nepal culture.

I spent four night with Rajan and his family at Himanshu Homestay and it was a wonderful place to stay on arriving in Kathmandu. The room and facilities are very good, separate from the main house and with private bathroom. Rajan was an excellent host - very helpful, accommodating and an interesting conversationalist. He helped me immensely during my time in Kathmandu and took me to a Havan at the local yoga retreat which was a highlight of my time in Nepal. I enjoyed meals with the family and other homestay guests. His wife, Ansu (I hope that’s correct!) made THE BEST masala chai I drank in all of Nepal! Definitely worth a stay here if you’re looking to do something a little different.

Third visit and I’m still coming! I now feel part of the family, a trip to Nepal would not be complete without a visit here. Rajan (Earthbound Expeditions director) and his wife Ansu and children are very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them. The perfect Nepali family! Together with other family members it is truly a pleasure to visit. The meals cooked by Ansu are some of the best you will taste in Nepal. The Homestay on the outskirts of Kathmandu takes you away from the dirt and pollution in the city. There are building works going on around the house but the closeness to the forest make up for that. Thank you Rajan and Ansu.

We booked into this cooking class as we enjoy cooking and love learning local recipes when we travel! The cooking class was a great experience, transport to and from the class was arranged which made it very easy and comfortable. The cooking class it’s self was lots of fun and very informative. We were welcomed into their family home, we helped cook the meals and we all enjoyed them together! If you are looking for something local and fun to do I highly recommended booking this class!
